  1. I'm using a pen fishing rod from penfishingrods.com They are tiny but work great. The biggest I caught with it was a 50+ cm flathead, other catches include yellowtails, breams, flounder and trevally. I've just restarted using it frim the beach for whitings. Not caught any with it yet but none caught with my bigger rod on the same day. If it can handle a flatheat it should handle a whiting. -- http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  2. The low tides are pretty low these days (0.3m) Event at 3 hours after low tide the water level was quite low, enough for beach worming I reckon. Might go early morning tomorrow in Dee Why or Narrabeen and grab some. -- http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  3. I'm not expert in lures, still learning it. For Narrabeen pilies works well for tailors and salmons. For whitings worms are great or you can pump for nippers in the lakes. Lakes and lagoon will be low if the tide is not high enough like today. http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

  5. Hi all I've been fishing for several months already, caught one jew, several tailors, oz salmon and whitings on baits and flatties on soft plastic. But I'm still waiting for my decent bream on lure and whiting on lure. Here is my info card: Name: Huy Location: Artarmon Technique needed: whiting or bream on lure Preferred locations: Northern Beaches Acceptable locations: Bondi, Marroubra, Rockdale down to Cronulla Best times: 5am - 7am, 8pm - 1am or weekend any time Provide own gear: yes, tell me what I need to get Boat: no, I prefer landbased, from the beach preferrably Thanks Huy http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  6. Yeah I had it raw. When filleting it remove all dark meat just keep the nice pink one. Bleeding helps with the taste too. Then use sashimi soy sauce mixed with a bit of wasabi. http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  7. I'm trying to get some on surface too. I decided yo try my big stickbait this morning without success. But is it me or the stick or the fish were elsewhere? I think I need to try bringing live worms and start fishing with them, then if I get hookups switch to lures. At least I will be sure there are fish in the area. For narrabeen I heard its good in front of the camping site near the beach. http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  8. @sam I never had success in mona vale, just cat sharks. But you might have luck. What works for me when I spent days withno hooking on pilchards is to go light (fish bag, single rod) and walk along the beach instead of staying at one spot. But I just switched to targetting whitings few days ago. http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  9. @howdoweplaythis hey thanks for your like on FB. I'm out at DY very often, 5am this week and probably every day. Need some fresh worms as whiting are hanging around. http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  10. Went to Narrabeen on Saturday morning (5am) and got a big fat salmon too. The tide was quite low, I walked along the beach casting full pilchards until I found a spot where the fish hit, here's a photo of my wife holding it before preparing a lovely sashimi: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=404789582956211
  11. Hey guys, I wanted to get some whiting on a walk-the-dog lure, so got myself a SugarPen 90m floating, but I'm starting to think I might have chosen a too big one. I was afraid the 70 would be too light for fishing the surf (big waves in Dee Why). But thinking again, maybe the 70 would have been enough. What do you guys think? Should I take the 90mm back and take the 70 instead?
  12. Hey guys Sorry for late reply. Dee Why is my favorite spot in the Norther Beaches with Narrabeen. Got Tailors, Oz Salmons, Jewfish and Whitings: https://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz That pole you guys are talking about seems to be a good spot (according to forums and people saying) but as Reubs said, it's a bastard of a walk and I went there just twice in all the multiple times I went to Dee Why (every week at least and sometimes several times a week 5:00 - 7:00 am). Whitings are starting to show up, you can catch sandworms there too. Best spot are that pole and the corner at the beginning of the beach (near the steps) but its very crowded on weekends, so better go a bit further. From the public toilet there's a path to the beach on the left, don't take that one take the second one, then just go straight down to the beach and find a spot from there to the pole.
  13. Got good results this month in Dee Why. Last week I got legal size Jewfish and Trevally and earlier in the month got Tailors. Fish a nice gutter and move on to another one if no success after about half an hour.
