  2. G'day Adam and Camo. 2 heads are better than 1 so I'm gunna be pumped when you guys send in ur 1st joint post, detailing your successes on the Coomera. Won't be long now, Good luck guys, Neil

Yeah neil you are right...not long now. 2 weeks today till i hand over the keys down here.

I have been working hard everyday (googling ALOT of fishing spots and secrets)

I am keen to catch up and hopefully have a successful session but either way whack up our first joint post of our first trip. Will take a few days to settle in and work out hours with new job and stuff.

  4. I am now retired, but have been fishing for close on 60 years.

Always relied on the saying....a bad days fishing is still better than a good day at work

    Born to fish,forced to work.

  6. 3 weeks and counting mate haha I've been putting off trying the mouth of the river at the harbour due to me having to do it in a yak but I will give it a shot next week. I know there are fish there and how to find em just a matter of positioning the yak for the drift...the river runs at about 6-7knots most of the time and the whole river is pretty much 10-12m deep so a lot of water moving plus there's the bull sharks, cargo ships and ferries to contend with. Those things aside I should be able to get onto some flatty's and hopefully a thready or two or a jew...

Coomera is one hell of a productive spot though, I've fished it twice and both times seen countless bream and jacks, it was just too windy in the yak to be fishing tight structure, I did manage to tea bag a jack with a cicada but this was 6lb and gone in a tenth of a second. The locals reckon there's loads of 80cm+ jacks in the coomera and it's not an issue finding them rather than turning them before they snag you up.

Hahahaha awww shit thats so hectic. Just got me so keen haha. Im pumped now. And stoked to find someone so i dont have to explore by myself haha.

Glad you have a bit of inside knowledge already. Ive only got google on myside atm. I cant wait man

  8. Hey mate. Have chased flatties with quiet a bit of success at patonga so feel free to pm me for some more secrets.

I like to use the Zman grubz in the 3 inch in watermelon red. There my go to no matter where im targetting them but have had lots of success there.

Or also a berkley gulp bloodworm Wrigler if the tide is running.

Sometimes with the wriggler i can throw it on a 1/12 jig head and leave it out in the tide in a beeley trail while im throwing the grubz around. The extra long tail in the current does all the work.

Its a beautiful spot there. I caught my first ever fish on a sp there which was a flattie lol.

    Cheers hope this helps

  9. Interesting topic !!

If I had to choose - I would prefer to score a feed above catching the one large fish of a lifetime.

That's not to say that chasing the dream catch isn't fun or worthwhile - I have certainly tried !

But I can definitely say that 95% of my effort goes to scoring dinner and 5% goes to dream catch.

I think my feelings on that topic are exacerbated by the fact that I always let the larger fish go :)

Everybody is different and that is what makes us human. Thanks for the response was great to hear other opinions :):):)

  10. So p-ziller and his amazing father has inspired me to find out the reason behind "why do you fish"

I often ask myself what i would say if someone asked me why i fish. I sort of see the conversation (if getting deep into it) wpuld go a little like this.

    Them: why do you fish?

Me: Because there is no greater feeling of trying to align all the conditions i.e. wind/tides/swell/moons etc and then putting in all of the hours to FINALLY land that "dream catch" and hear your drag screaming causing so much adrenaline.

Them: what is your dream catch?

Me: I am not too sure.

Them: so how do you know when you have achieved this feeling.

Me: you wont as you keep hunting for more.

    Them: I dont get it?

Me: you obviously dont fish! Only a true fisho can relate.

Haha something kind of along those lines. (Excuse the pun)

So raiders????? WHY DO YOU FISH????

    CHEERS!!!

  11. Camo, he was literally shaking. He has been talking about it for months but keeps changing his mind.

A tribute to the amazing things that can happen when you venture outdoors.

  12. Any time mate, is it wierd I get stoked on other people catching fish!? Haha

Haha not at all brother. I get just as pumped (sometimes more) when my mate is on a good one. Hearing that drag and watching the fight. Twice as good him loosing the fish not me hahaha

  13. I think two that need to be added are:

Stonka(er): In relation to size; &

    Tax man: Shark.

Hahah love the tax man!! i e shark. Never heard that one. Brilliant!!

I think just plain LB for land based.

Not sure if tbis is the right spot but maybe add a section for lure techniques for example 'walk the dog' or the 'itchy twitchy' so when fellow raiders are posting using this jargon other raiders will understand the technique they are using.

    Just food for though
