    Boat Weights

Hey Raiders Hoping for a little help on this one. Does anyone have a guide line to how much a boat weighs? I have a 4.5 Metre Dehavilland offshore run about with a 40HP Tohatsu My car is rated to tow upto 650Kgs Do you think i'm good to go or do you think the boat is too heavy for the car. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers Maggot
  6. Hi Raiders i hope that you have all had a great fish this weekend. Went out on Saturday from Gladesville Bridge & Motored up into the harbour & was greated by choppy water. As we have never fished the Harbour before we didn't really know where to start, in the distance there were about 200 sail boats so we picked a quite spot & dropped our lines. Two big rods out for the Kingies or Jewies, we had a light outfit for each of us (3 people) First drop I get a hit on the lightrod & it was a 25cm Snapper & they kept coming although we only managed one keeper a flat head we managed to bring 62 fish up. (we are very competitive & so we score each other) Their was a range of Fish: Snapper Bream Flatties Whitting Tailor Unfotunately nothing to report on the big roda, was desperately hoping for a Kingie or two. We had a go at squid jigging with no success, i'm not even sure if we were in the right or using the right technique. If anyone has a map & could point out where spots like the wedding cake are I would be really greatful. Although we only got the one keeper it was a fun days fishing & I will be definately in the Harbour again. Next weekend we are going to Jervis Bay for the weekend so I look forward to posting a report full of great cathces. Until next time TIGHT LINES

    Trolling

Hi Raiders Seems like you have all been having some great cathes. I wanted to ask if anyone would be helpful enough to give me a few pointers for Trolling. What size Lures for fish from Tailor to Kingies How fast should the boat be going? How far from the boat shopuld the lures be? Sorry to ask so many questions but as a POM I haven't had much experience in trolling. Thanks in advance for any repsonses Cheers Maggotbasher!
  8. anyone I'd like to say while i'm sure it's more comfortable from the Boat I cant ever recall anyone catching a Jewie & refering to it as Easy! Good luck though I caught my first small Jewie two weeks ago! I was going to Frame It! Cheers
  9. Hi All I hope there will be someoneout there who can help with thisone. I'm planning on going out in the harbour on Friday or Saturday but not sure where to put the boat in, usually we put it in a Gladesville & motor up towards the Harbour, but that seems like a long driv if we can put it in closer. Any suggestions would be greatly received Cheers Elliott
  10. Hi Raiders I trust the Majority of you are out onthe harbour today getting into some kingies. Well last night we went out and has a sesion on the Hawkesbury. There were boats everywhere, we fished at Juno Point and there must have been 20 boats out there. It looked like there were a few at Flint & Steel too. If there were any raiders out there i'd like to hear from you & your catches. We were in search of the Illustrious Jew, no 10KG fish to report though. 5x Shovel Noses (Picture of one below) 2x Soapies 45cms 1x Flatty 38CMs 1x Whitting (Under Size) I have never had such great fight from a Shovel Nose, usually they are a bit like a Ray, just sit there & hug the bottom. These actually fought well! All in all we had a good night & were kept busy, would of like to of seen a big Jewie, but heyho. There is always next time. Tight Lines

  14. Hi All I'm new to this site, what a site though, i've just sat here reading the reports for the last two hours. I've only been in Aus for 18 months and am new to this style of fishing. But I LOVE IT I'm desperate to catch a keeper Jew but have had no luck on the Hawkesbury at Brooklyn only a few soapies. I've tried Juno Point, The Bridges, The Vines & Mooney Mooney Creek. I'd try flint & steal but dont have gps and dont know how to find it. If anyone has any suggestions for locations & methods/rigs baits etc i would be really grateful. I cant wait to start posting some of my own cathces Cheers Magotbasher
