  4. Finally got out on the water on sunday. Got to Roseville at first light and we were away tried for some squid at the Spit before it got to light no luck. Found some yellowtail filled the tank and headed out around south head once again no luck so we decided to come back in. Went to the small bay near the spit and picked up 7 really small cuttlefish (Kingfish Candy) another boat went past and said there was a few kings around so we pulled up a mooring and dropped down three live cuttle fish and with in 5 minutes we were on. We were running heaving jigging tackle as we were in shallow water and this fishing wasnt stopping a it got us busted us off. So down went more baits and yet again we hooked up but again couldn't stop it these were big kingies. fishined their and finally land a small one wasn't much fun due to locked drag . On the way home we stop at North bridge and hooked another King and we landed this one it went 68cm. In the end was a good day just a shame we could land a few more.

  10. Up Early Leaving the house at 5 thinking why are we doing this leaving at 5 in the morning just to fish from the shore arriving at Roseville boat ramp at about ten past 5. Finding our spot just to the left of the wharf first thing to do was to catch some livies with about 10 or so lives we set up to rods with two yellowtails under float within the first five minutes both of them were smashed with no hook ups pulled the livies in one with no head and the other one in half ( any suggestions on what would of done that two them). Anyway we put two more livies out with no luck until abut 30 minutes later the livies was smashed and we were on we had no clue what it was until it leap from the water and i knew it was a salmon was a good fight. About 30 minutes later we were on again this time it was a nice bonito we were thinking could this day get any better in fact we thought it was going to get worst with the wind picking up and blowing righ into our faces anyhow we put a livie with a running sinker within 15 minutes the reel went screaming my mate grab the rod with me thinking it might of been a jew but as soon as i saw it i almost fainted it was the biggest flathead i have ever seen taking a whole yellowtail i was surprised final landing the beats we were amazed we had nothing to mesure it but we were guessing between 80-100cm. After this we were pumped and put another bait down and what do you no we were on again this time being another monster flathead this time on 75cm but still a big fish from Roseville wharf after this it went quite so we decide to pack up was one of the best days fishing of my life :1fishing1: HAVING TROUBLE UPLOADING PHOTOS CAN ANYONE HELP
  11. Hi All, It's been sometime since I logged on. I am hoping the forum can again provide some information. I am looking to do a fishing trip to the NT and would welcome any advice and tips. The idea at this stage is that there would be at least 3 of us being my father (80) and son (12). We would like to enjoy a variety of fishing but at the end of the day would love to tick off a couple of personal goals such as big Barra, GT, Spanish Mackerel and everything in between. I don't want much. My research so far seems to point me to the Mary River area and the Mother Ship concept also appeals but this is all open. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome along with any websites. Thanks in advance for you help. Cheers, Aqua
  12. Hi all, I am hoping someone might be prepared to divulge yellowtail grounds. Anywhere from Roseville up to Balmoral would be great. Thanks, Aqua
  13. Thanks Guys, For all your suggestions the double Uni seems to be best for me to tie although I still need to practice? Thanks Again, Cheers
  14. Hi All, I have spooled one of my reels with 6lb Fireline but I cannot seem to tie the leader knot correctly. It either consistently slips out or on the odd occasion that I think I have got it right is snaps at the knot. I have read the articles at the front of Fishraider and I am copying the knot shown there, but I must be doing something wrong. Please help. Aqua
  15. Hello, There is an Australian Fish Museum listed in the white pages at Pyrmont. Does anyone know anything about it? Is it something that young kids would like to go to? Cheers, Aqua
  16. Now I have been caught out. I don't know the exact species of Perch, but here's what I can tell you. It is a lake on private property that they have stocked with what I am told are "Perch" from my reserch they are Silver or Golden. Stating the obvious they are a beautiful golden brown colour, but I don't know if that is due to the colour of the water they are in. I will try and get a good photo this weekend and load it up. Sorry for the vague information I hope it helps. Aqua
  17. Hi All, I have recently been having some success using bait for Perch, but limited success with lures. Can any one recommend a suitable lure we could try? Good fishing to all over Easter Aqua
  18. Great Report, Thanks for sharing your spots and methods. Its great help to those of us still learning and who need all the help we can get. Hopefully I can return the favour one day. Cheers, Aqua
  19. There are some great ideas here, especially for tank options. If you are fitting a pump does it need to be a permanent fixture to the boat. Or can it be easily removed as well? If so what is the most practical way of doing this? Cheers, Aqua.
  20. Hi, I recently went through all this. GIO were also the cheapest quote and they will offer NCB next year. Call me strange but I went with Club Marine because they offered an Agreed Value policy. It was about $70 more over 12 mths. I think/hope they are more experienced with boats. If you do go with Club Marine do your quote on line it is 5% cheaper. The dealer I bought the boat from matched it for me. Fingers Crossed I don't need it anyway. Aqua

    Boat Cover

Hi, I am looking to get a boat cover made, do you know anyone who is good, reliable and reasonably priced? Cheers, Aqua
  22. Hi, Thanks to all who responded re: Savage Cuddy Cabin that boat sold before I could get a look at it. After a good look around on the weekend I have now changed my mind and I am looking at an aluminium bowrider probably one of the big 3 Quintrex, Stacer or Savage. I am considering 4.75m to 5.25m in size with suitable outboard. It will be family/fishing boat with some local offshore work but I am not looking to go too far out and then only on good days as I get too crook. Again any feedback positive or negative on either brand and style of boat is appreciated. Cheers, Aquaholic :grogon:
  23. I am looking to buy Savage 540 Lancer Cuddy Cabin 1998 with 90 hp Johnson. All the reports etc I have read are positive. I am looking to use it for fishing and general family use. Can anyone provide and feedback positive or negative on this boat. I am new to this site and find the information and topics great. Cheers, Aquaholic :grogon:
