Try the weed beds around Palm beach and weed beds at mackeral beach

awesome catch!!!!!! My brother lives up that way 15min west of bruns and he said the jewy fishing has been hot lately!!!!! I am making the move up there myself in 2 weeks can't wait to get amongst the amazing fisheries the north coast has to offer!!!

Hi raiders a mate and I are heading up to Nelson bay in mid march and we have never fished the area. My mate has a 4.2 quintex wide hull and we are after some good kingies any help would be greatly appreciated. Obviously not expecting exact spots but if you could point us in the right direction that would be great. Regards Rockett1985

Hey mate been having some luck on the Williamson 5.5" skirts any colour really and small shallow diving X-RAPS to about 6" in size. Like the Williamson skirts makes a nice bubble trail to get them excited been getting rat kings on them too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi guys just a quick report. Headed out the heads of pittwater and threw out the lures for a troll ( carps and skirted lures) trolled from palmy to Avalon with not a hit. Pulled the lures in and shot out to Newport reef and back out the lures went once we arrived, was not long and we had a nice bonito in the boat. Caught plenty of bonito and had kings chasing them all the way to the boat. I decided to put on a popper and see how I would go, never caught a king on a popper so was keen to see how it would go. First cast with the popper had kings coming from everywhere smashing the surface to hit the lure, it was quiete a sight. We landed heaps of rat kings in the 60-64cm range on both poppers and trolled lures and 7 Bonnie's. Also got reefed by a solid king that took a liking to my 10inch pink and blue Williamson skirt. Awesome afternoon out there with a mate who loves fishing as much as I do! Can't wait for our next trip! Sorry no photos my battery died.

They are certainly there and lots of them. Mates were catching them on prawns the other day in pittwater just got to find the schools!

Thanks everyone it was pretty much the best feeling ever. I have spent a lot of time on the sand learning from every failed attempt! Fingers crossed this bloody wind dies down and I can get some fresh and live bait for tomorrow nights session off the beach

Well done as Richard said try a very slow paddle with a Livie on a poor mans down rigger! Or try giving the frozen California squid ago using the same method.

Not long ago I went on a camping trip with the boys up to forster. My main goal for this trip was to catch my first ever Jew fish and boy did I achieve my goal. I woke up early on our first day and hit the beach with a bag of pillies with the hope of getting a nice tailor for some fresh slab baits but I did not get any tailor after 2 hrs just as I was about to pack it in my rod buckles over and I got a solid salmon. Not a tailor but decided to give fresh salmon slabs a go for later that night! That night I hit the beach around 7pm, carried my gear down and noticed 2 gooses set up right where I wanted to be in the deepest part of the gutter with a ultra bright spotlight shining right into the water! I moved 30m or so up from them and set up first half an hour nothing but luckily they decided to up and leave and pack up their bloody spot light thank god. I went straight to their spot and set up with a fresh slab of salmon. Only 20min had passed and my rod absolutely buckled over and was ripped out of the rod holder, I was charging down the beach before rod disappeared into the ocean. Soon as I had picked up the rod I knew what I had on, the big charging runs with the big head shakes in between ( thanks to all the mags I have read helped me distinguish what it was). After a 15min fight I finally saw they big slab of silver washed up on the beach with his glowing eyes staring at me. He went 1.19m but did not have scales so unsure of weight estimated between 17-20kg. Unfortunately I kept him as I was fishing by my self and no one would believe my catch. This was my most satisfying catch ever as I have been trying for a Jew fish for close to 2yrs and

hey reubs, I use a about 6ft of leader with a 2 hook sliding rig tied off to a swivel! I then attach a rubber band to my swivel through one of the eyelets and then around a snapper lead to get it to the desired depth! Works a treat use it on my boat as well even though I do have a down rigger on it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
