  1. Symetre and stradic are excellent and I find the symetre just as good for a lot less so defiantly great value yet I don't believe it is sealed very heavily. Still, I use mine off the Beach I just look after it after each session. Plfueger salt is priced inbetween the 2 and is a gun reel with very simple yet tough engineering, I have the 5000 and am really impressed.

  2. Went out in the rain on Friday to check out a new spot, heard rumours of Jews and it seemed possible at such a good squid location. Tide was quite low and the rocks and weed were a major hassle, there were no squid or at least none in our casting distance from the northern end of the bridge on the beach. Resorted to frozen pillies out for Jews which unsurprisingly weren't touched. Flicked the plastics around and ended up catching a blackfish, my first one on soft plastics. 5 inch gulp white jerkshad did the damage, my retrieve was very fast to keep out of the snags so he was aggressive in the take.

Probably wouldn't go there again due to the noise but it seems ok and I've heard of some great fish there. Any tips for getting Jews landbased around there? Or getting squid at least?

  3. I don't use bloodworms of the beach when sandworms are available, anything will take sandworms and definitely jewfish will. Maybe bloodworms are better if your specifically targeting Jews in which case maybe a slab or livie is the go if you want to avoid waiting bream etc. I've found sandworms better for all fish so I guess that extends to jewies (off the beach).

  4. Great effort if you pick up a Jew, you'd have much better shot with bait even if you collect it yourself eg worms, pippies etc. For salmon, metal lures I found are better but there's no doubt they take plastics I've caught them on the 5" gulp jerkshad as for flathead they will take almost any plastic. Basically don't rule out bait especially on the beach it's no trouble setting up a bait then leaving it while you do your own thing on the beach but if you dont plastics should get you some salmon and flatty, fast retrieve for salmon, keep it on the bottom for flathead and Jews.

  5. Hit up curl curl with no intentions to fish really but the beach was closed so I grabbed the rod I had in the car, a 4-8kg rod, 4000 reel with crazy 30lb braid and 40lb leader for jewfish. Put a servo prawn in the lagoon with the tiniest sinker and after not too long got smashed, put up a great fight even on the big gear, got it in onto the sand and it measured 38cm and was real fat. PB bream.

  6. Nice catch for down there at the moment mate!

There are only the arrow squid at this area. At the moment, they are quite small, and a bit tempremental! 4 is a good catch land based in an hour now. September/November there was a good few weeks on big arrows though.

I fish this spot atleast 1ce a week, as i live about 4mins away (If you ever see a teal FD RX7 down there, say hi!)

I dont really want to give away specific locations, but there are 2 main obvious spots land based. Remember that squid need sand, weed and structure. Look for that, and your in for a chance down there.

If heading towards the Hawkesbury on a boat, try the tip of smiths and cowan (think they the waterways?). You can see Cottage point quite clearly in this spot. VERY productive area. I do have LED strips around the gunnel of the boat to attract the bait fish, which in turn brings the squid on, but use a bit of berley, attract the fish, and the squid will swarm the area.

I also live close but I have written the area off as all I catch there are small bream. What do you catch there that keeps you going so often? I've never caught squid there I guess but I only fish the pontoon. Is it worth walking around to apple tree bay for squid or flathead cause there seems to be none where I fish.

    Cheers

  7. Set up looking for jewfish from about 5-11pm at the Bay Street wharf. No yakkas in sight despite constant burley and no squid either. Had to settle for servo squid out and there were no takes the whole time. No luck on gulp jerkshads and nemesis casting out either. Anyone know where the holes would be to target with casts in this area?

  8. Jamie Lyon and Michael nines would have to be the biggest sooks in the game. Adam Blair and Mitchell Pearce the most over rated.

    IMO

    Cheers scratchie!!!

Don't know anyone who rates Adam Blair anymore but he sure is still a waste of money. Completely agree with Mitchell Pearce game 3 origin past 2 years he has blown it for us.
