  1. Hey Raiders,

Decided to hit Narrabeen on Monday night for a fish. Armed with prawns and pillies we headed off. But as we were going to the beach we noticed several helicopters flying up around Warriewood so we decided to go have a look. As expected someone had been jumping of the cliffs and had hurt themselves. After watching them being winched into the helicopter we went to the North Narrabeen.

We started fishing the beach at 7PM with the rising tide and after 5 mins I was onto a nice Salmon. About an hour passed and I pulled out a nice 26cm Bream using prawns. We then headed over to the lake side and my dad pulled out a 27cm Bream and a 32cm Trevally. After that there wasn't much action so I decided to try fish off the bridge. As I turned my light on and looked down into the water I noticed some massive Garfish, easily 60cm+ but like usual couldn't get them to take anything. :ranting2:

Also happy to report there were plenty of baby Flatheads swimming around. Decided to pack up at 11PM and head home.

  2. Minnow lures are designed to mimic native galaxia species that commonly live in streams etc. I find that spinners work very well, nothing fancy, where you place it and how you retrieve it are the important things. Very few trout can resist a spinner.

    Thanks for the info Mate!

  3. Minnow you would hear people talk about with trout fishing would be a minnow style lure. Eg Baltic Minnow as above or Rapala minnow lures. Its more a style of lure not one set brand. Hard bodied lure, Fish like shape and colours.

Rapala sinking or floating Trout pattern lures work great in brown or rainbow trout pattern. For lake Jindabyne rapala or minnow lures with a gold or orange belly work well at certain times of the year to resemble the resident goldfish that school up and get the trout feeding in a frenzy on them.

    Hope this helps.

Tassie devils work well. Especially castin from the bank as you can get a good cast with them to cover ground and maximise the time your lure is in the water. For shallow running streams my favourite trout lure would have to be a very small and basic Celta. Natural coloured Vibes also work well for working fishy looking areas from the bank.

    Thanks heaps Dave, helps alot!

  4. Beleive it or not last year at the entrance I cought four mullet on chicken and cheese !

Tried that in sydney and they didn't even look at it.

Haha, i've read that they don't bite in salt water but I don't know how accurate that is.

  5. Hey Raiders,

While I was riding over Parramatta Weir a few weeks ago I noticed heaps of what seemed to be Mullet of Tailor right near the wall. Was wondering if fishing here is legal and I am aware that the fish are not suitable for eating but are they any good for bait?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers,
