  1. I've got a mariner 125HP 2001 offshore model. I also use Penrite 2 stroke outboard oil, i thought they were suppose to be good? lol Should bother checking my spark plugs and see if any oil leaked to there?
  2. Initially i thought it was gear box oil aswell but my mate told me the gear box oil shouldnt be black unless there is something wrong with it. The engine was running fine when i was flushing it. The leaking has eased however there are still abit on the prop. I might flush it again over the weekend and see if it leaks again. Thanks guys.
  3. Gday guys, I flushed my boat the other day after not running it for about 5 weeks. Some smoke came out when i first started it and everything was ok. Then that night i looked at the engine and I could see black oil leaking from the back of the prop where it is attached to the shaft. Just wondering what everyones theory is of the problem? Could it be the seal shrunk because of the cold? Look forward to your answers Cheers! Dean
  4. Thanks guys, I thought i was being too paranoid. Cant wait til next week to test the rod out at my bream spot! =D I am also thinking of getting a MT6144 as a back up bream/drummer/ and spinning stick. It seems pretty strong but also has a light action.
  5. Dont know if im being paranoid here but i just bought a snyder glas MT144 6w rod, just playing around with the set up and when i flex the rod up and down i hear a sort of crackling down near the guides. I had a look but i cant see any cracks or damage. Is it normal to hear those sounds for glass rods? or theres something wrong? Is the sound just the fiberglass flexing?
  6. interesting guys, thanks for that. I had a feel of the 4144 today and its nice, i thought the 6144 was abit too stiff for my liking. I might head for the 4144, what do you guys think of the live fibre wilson series? Not a big fan of graphite?
  7. Gday guys, i've been fishing off the rocks for awhile now but only been recently getting into bream fishing off the rocks. I've got a crappy 6kg rod that i've been using it for the bream off the rocks but now I want to get a good one with a soft action but also have enough guts for me to lift the bream up from the water and occasional enough guts to fight the drummer. I've been looking at the wilson MT4144 2 piece which seems pretty good, i would love to get a snyder one but pity they dont make them anymore. I would love to hear from any one who has more suggestions on which rod Cheers! Dean
  8. Gday guys, I do alot of fishing off the rocks and I know when its 2m to 3m swell not to fish. However when fishing on the boat, giving tomorrow as an example, the swell is 2m to 3m but the sea is 1m. Is that good for the boat? I mean it just means I cant fish in close on the boat but further out would that be calm?
  9. Becareful mate, never fish a low platform when the swell is anything above 1m, not worth it.
  10. Thanks guys, I've got a fiberglass hull so i guess it wouldnt matter? Plus the manual doesnt say to put a fuse in the negative side so I guess they cant avoid the warranty?
  11. I've got the Lowrance X515CDF unit which has 4000watts peak to peak and 500watts RMS Would there be a big issue running that out of the water? cause like i said ive done it twice already Also should i bother putting a fuse in the negative side?
  12. The problem is my switch does not show me which side is power and which side is accessories, or it doesnt really matter? Will that circuit do? Also ppl has told me not to turn the sounder on whilst im out of the water, i've done it twice but only for a short period of time to test my sounder. What sort of damage does it to do to my sounder?
  13. Thanks guys, but the thing is when I turned the switch on everything is fine, its when I turn the switch off the fuse blows.
  14. I was wiring my sounder last weekend and just came across an issue. I bought a lowrance sounder, the power cable came with a red (pos), black (neg) and white (earth) cable. It told me to put a in-line switch in the circuit and also a 3AMP fuse close to the battery's positive side. So I bought a pull switch with 2 terminals (one pwr and one acc), given a lack of information on which side each of the terminal is on the switch i just connected one side with the positive and one side with the negative. Since there is no room for the earth cable I just end capped the white cable and put electrical tape around it. So from the sounder I have pos going into one side of the pull switch and neg going into the other side. Then the positive goes to a fuse and then to the positive side of the battery. The negative goes straight to the switch and then to the negative side of the battery. The problem I have is when I have the switch pulled up (turned off), as soon as I connect the cables to the battery the fuse blows. But as soon as I have the switch pulled down (turned on) everything is ok. What is going on??? I want to be able to turned the switch off without the fuse blowing, can anyone help? Thanks!
  15. The common way I would do is use 4 gang hooks and then use a rubber band to tie up the nose of the gars with the leader. Anyone else have a different technic for rigging up garfish for spinning? cheers! Dean
