Hi,
New to kayaking. Would be keen to tag along if there is a catchup.

Those 40 gram knights seem to do the job well. Nice bit of fun there.

Great write up there. Very informative.

Peir 2 wharf in the city seems to go ok.

Try Brighton beach

Double uni knot works for me. But you cant have your knot run through the guides. Fg knot if you want ya knot to run thru your guides on your fishing rod.
either suggestions in thread will work. Personal preference.

I did have a fish last Sunday morning from 6pm - 10am on the spin gear for donuts on the northern beaches. Spun from the rocks. The last 2 sessions haven't had any luck on the Pelagics . That time of year with the transition of water i guess.
The action looks like it is further north.

Cool video. Looks like heaps of fun.

Any particular area? South coast or North coast. Havnt heard of may reports lately.

That's no good. Must have just missed out on pelagic season.

Hi everyone,
just wondering if anyone is still getting any pelagics still ? Usually fish off the rocks and landbase. Weather is getting colder not sure if there still hanging around? Preferred method casting metals.

Any luck on the fish?

Any luck on the fish? After all those suggestions?

Its easier to spot gutters from a high vantage point

squid should be getting bigger as we near winter.

That gear should be plenty for now, to see if your going to stick to spinning off the rocks. Its the perfect time to try it out as from all the reports i am reading, bonito, frigate, mac tuna are about. Probably go with 20lb braid and 20 fluro carbon leader. Get a little more distance with using lighter line

Long net would be the better option. You can buy the ones that extend out if you need the extra distance.

Any wharf around Sydney harbour.

Thanks a lot for the advice there Paddy, much appreciated! I would agree with your assessment there. Looking at the trebles on these lures I really just can't imagine how you could get enough hook in them to keep the fish on firm save for lip-hooking them.
When payday comes around I'll get over to the toy store and pick up some new hooks. And replacements for all the lures I lost yesterday.
@big Neil Cheers for the kind words mate! Haha! When fishing I do normally dress like a dag (when bait-fishing especially)!
Thanks to others for the advice on hooks and landing the fish. Always helpful and appreciated!
I use 20 gram raiders or 15 gram bishops metal lure, have no problem hooking salmon, tailor or bonito on the standard treble hooks. Get the odd one jump off if hooks arent set. Standard trebles will do until you encounter bigger fish.

Going the lighter line also enables you to cast further in case you decide to use the reel for spinning metals or lures.

Where is this spot?

What bait did you catch it on?

Never fished it myself. Coalcliff would be a good close spot to u. Would have to fish it in the right conditions and the right rock equipment. Rock shoes , lifejacket etc.
