  1. Not sure about the legal limit. Can you eat them? Science told me colourful things in the wild is no good, such as poisonous frogs, magic mushrooms, Starburst.
  2. Okay so last night was cold... nothing at Greenwich in the end. So in total I only caught- The leather jacket wrasse (Mardi Gras fish) 5 baby snappers All fish were Released besides yellow what a sad day/night. I'm going again today tho
  3. Yeah they are great fun too, bash them around and throw them in the sand. Just need to upgrade the line because it has too much memory And it looks like a slinky when you cast it.
  4. Yes I found a replacement. . A new Kmart rod in a more masculine colour for 10 bucks and a new graphite rod and reel worth close to 400 bucks
  5. I'm using a new rod and I almost lost it today hahaha. So good to hear about the jews . haha and I'm sitting in my car with heater on. The wait is on I don't want to finish the report with a dirty wrasse and a leather jacket
  6. Thanks for the fish ID. Went back to cremorne point to catch some yellowtail for Greenwich... caught 3 and now I'm just waiting for a bite... sitting in the car cause its so freakin cold.
  7. Just had my first run on the yellowtail but I lost it when I picked up the rod and accidentally opened the gate... not use to this new set up I got just yesterday from Willoughby! I also picked up a new Kmart special and customised it with 10 pound line... The lines more expensive than the rod lol Need more yaks now
  8. Yakka is on 4.23 Wish me good luck! !!
  9. 12 guys plus me.. 1 yakka caught between us all.. it's still early
  10. Also wind is quite strong Feel free to join me if you guys want
  11. Know what they are?? Some sort of leather jacket and Mardi Gras fish! ! And thanks I'll need the luck
  12. Catching yellowtails they don't seem to be around. it's now 3pm and I've been here for almost 40 min I've caught 2 snappers between 10 and 17 cm, a leather jacket and a colour fish with sharp teeth and a slimy skin... Been burleying and casting 10 meters down current. No yaks so I'm heading to Clifton with frozen squid Wish me good luck. I don't know what I'm doing
  13. I don't fish off boats but I always bring up something interesting or disappointing. What about when you get nibbles and bang you're on. You fight and tug and it feels heavy but you notice it doesn't fight much. You think it's a ray or a octopus and then you end up reeling in a huge branch or log with a tiny little bream wrapped around it.
  14. Fishing is allowed but the wharf does close between 12am and 6 (not too sure I try not to stay out that late). Just keep it clean, there's plenty of bins and plenty of water to wash off fish guys etc There are 2 disability parking spots in front of wharf and after hours let's say around 9 I normally just park up close in those spots and or box people Or get boxed in by other fishos. Everyone is nice down there (so don't say im breaking the law by parking in those spots or that's not nice and complain cos everyone down there is nice And understanding) You can fish up the hill to the right of the wharf too I think, looks like a decent spot on Google map. Heaps of Turkish/Lebanese folks down there catching yakkas. My parents came from Hong Kong a few weeks back and got excited by the bucket loads of yakkas they got between them all and decided to fish with my dad almost every second night there. They were defiantly not as expire need in catching them like those oldies.
  15. Yeah it was at the wharf.. I like casting left and right.. nothing towards the ferry, live yaks be behind towards the rocks..
  16. Getting back into fishing again. Was spear fishing heaps but I want to get back into the old rod and reel. Narra beach and lagoon and spit bridge 1/5 Surf club/the palms Hit the beach with pillies and 5 freshly pumped nippers, rain was heavy but I had my trusty goretex jacket, pants and boots. Started walking to the beach and expected no surfers but I was wrong. As keen as I was for a fish, these guys were just as keen for a surf. Was too lazy to walk further up so I fish with my light 5 buck Kmart special at the lake entrance with nippers. Was on straight away, two whiting, one undersized and one keeper. Both released. Headed to the lagoon instead as I was after a coffee and some place less Sandy. woolies bridge Water is much cleaner now but still dirty from the rain so I burley up hard. Some guy on a boat said he got two keeper flatties so my motivation was high. 30 mins in and nothing but a hand full of beams that were all undersized and finally got onto a large 33 cm bream. 15 min later a small flattie measuring 40cm and another bream that was just legal. Had enough and decided to try spit bridge instead. All fish were released. Spit bridge (approx 6pm) Rain came back but still determined. Caught a quick yakka and threw it out with the big rod and I decided to try for squid in the murkiest water ever. No luck what so ever but I only gave up because the floating debris meant my jig couldn't sink properly so I rigged up again to stock up on yakka incase I get a hit. Mate came down and was onto a small bream on pillies straight away and then I hear a zzzzzzzzzzzz from my line!!!! Got excited and I ran over and picked it up and nothing... the zzzzzzzzzzzz was from a giant floating log dragging my line. Packed up and threw my yakka back and I decided to call it a night. All fish were released. Cremorne point. 2/5 Fished around high tide last night after oiling and cleaning up my reels!! Was keen to test my lucky 5 dollar Kmart special as I put some new line on it (none of that cheap memory stuff) Burley was key as the water was still quite dirty and I had kmart and another slightly heavier rod out. An Asian man joined me and within mins of burleying both our rods tipped. He was onto a nice travally and I most likely had one too but it snapped because I didn't set my drag properly after my little service!! User error Two other runs most likely tailor bit my line as I didn't have gang hooks and I was fishing super light and then nothing for an hour besides pickers. Saw a crab so I decided to hook him out for a quick play before I released him. The other guys also saw a seal... but I missed out...never seen one in Sydney before so it would have been awesome to witness. Do they come often? Old matey was keen to throw a live yellowtail out so I decided to help him out and kill a little time. Yellowtail weren't out like usual and I decided to leave Kmart down while chatting to a Turkish bloke next to me and suddenly bam... my lucky kmart special went in the water . So upset... that rod has caught big beams and flatties and I've taught my cousins and numerous friends how to fish with that rod not to mention the new line and mini service I just performed... Now determined more than ever I decided to burley heavy as I had two friends that wanted to watch. I had to catch something for them to take home and finally a decent bream measuring 30 cm was pulled up. Decided to call it a night and headed back for a feed, steamed with ginger and chilli soy to perfection! All in all fishing was poor but I had plenty of fun these two days. All my fish was release for another angler besides the bream at cremorne point. Can't wait to fish again! !
