Big Neil, You hit the nail on the head. I have only just seen your post. I had the female microchipped last week and we decided on the name "LEE" as we did the microchipping and chip registration Thanks guys for the name suggestions. Cheers, Parrot
  3. Hi Raiders, Spent the afternoon hacking around the port. Tried a couple spots but the dam wind made things a little difficult. Ended up with a 50cm Flatty and a couple of 40cm chopper tailor. I will post pic tomorrow. Also had 3 or 4 good hits, run buckled the rod in half then dropped the bait. Upon inspecting the pilly baits each time they were crushed with no sign of teeth marks so i am guessing Kingys ??? I might go have another cracken at the mystery bait dropping fish tomorrow arvo. But now is ale time, Cheers, Parrot

Hello again Raiders, One of my hobbies besides fishing is keeping and breeding exotic parrots. I will attach a pic of my best mate "Cooper" the Blue & Gold Macaw. We just aquired a female companion for Cooper and yet to name her so naming suggestions are welcome, please not "Polly" etc this is a majestic Macaw and no i won't have any baby Macaws till these guys mature (around 4 years). Yes they are expensive $5000 each. Cooper is 16 months old, speaks many words and phrases, swears, mimics sounds, coughing, laughing, etc, our new unamed female is 6 months old says "Hello" so far and whispers a few other words that i can't quite understand but parrots tend to either whisper or practice new words when they think no one is around before they actually say the word aloud. Both are tame. I have been keeping and breeding exotic parrots for 12 years, obviously i have alot of experience and obtained mountains of knowledge with exotic parrots. I make no excuses and give them the very best i can across the board from human grade food, toys, free time outside, yes free time outside (Cooper usually chases our Pitbull around the yard, lol). Macaws are like having an ADHD 4yr old child in the house most of the time and are extremely entertaining If anyone is even considering owning a Macaw my only suggestion would be to learn everything you can about the species before considering. My personal belief is that we are the keepers "not owners" of these beautiful majestic creatures and when we choose to care for one of these animals it is our responsibility to give them the best care possible. The only down side is the security to deter the d'heads from trying to steal our parrots, CCTV, Pitbull, Monitored alarm system Anyway i'm getting thirsty, i hope you all enjoy reading. The Parrot
  6. Totally agree Yowie, when i hooked up mine jumped did backflips and cartwheels, i let the fish carry on for a bit before bringing him into the net. It's a bit of a manouvre netting a green fish by yourself Anyway this one will be salmon patties tonight
  7. Hey Teflon, I didn't chase them around i was LB, just waited for them to come to me, Got mine on half pillies With the dam releasing water today i'd be heading for the mouth of the Hawkesbury over the weekend
  8. Hi Raiders, After reading Yowies post about fishing Port Hacking this afternoon i thought i might as well weigh in. I also fished Hacking i was on the oposite side of the river to you Yowie, lol. I had similar results and landed this nice 57cm salmon.
  9. What a great way to end the day I was stung by a little black and white stripe catfish(blind catfish i beleive) when fishing Tallebugera Creek mouth on the Gold Coast. Fishing a rising evening tide i saw a school of little fish swim past me a couple times on the surface so thinking they were Poddies and here's some nice live bait i grabbed a rock and slammed it into the middle of the school, stunned a few, in the low light i didn't even think of being bitten or stung i just grabbed one by the tail, as i stood up and got a look at this thing with black and white stripes i was thinking to myself ummmm this dosen't look good for a livie just about to drop the evil little thing when it flicked and hit me in the hand with one of the pectoral spikes. I know the pain you felt, my hand started burning then my whole arm and later turned to aching as well. Luckily i didn't have to take a boat home etc but i did end up at the hospital about 30 minutes after i got stung, they dosed me with pethadine. Those little black and white stripe catfish are evil little devil fish !
  10. Hello Raiders, I return the gratitude, thanks for your welcomes Gald you all found our weekend adventure and my descriptive wrtiting a stimulating read. Shame the fish aren't as excited lately. I have resorted to hunting tackle stores and online to restock my tackle box with bells and whistles, also purchased a couple new rod and reels sitting up in th garage rafters the mrs don't know about yet I got myself a Live Fibre 8kg stick, Shimano 8000D baitrunner, Diawa Seabass 10kg stick and Shimano 12000D baitrunner Presently i am determined to consume ales patiently waiting for the weather to warm. Cheers, Parrot
  11. Hey again Raiders, Thank you all for the birthday wishes Our weekend was great. Firstly yes we drank responsively, only opening drinks once our anchor was set and let sit to be checked ! We began our journey Friday morning in what i have nicknamed "The FV Walrus" on the mighty Hawkesbury from upstream(no offence to the site sponsors, we will be taking one of your HB's next trip ) taking a 6 hour slow cruise, along with pricless views in every direction we stopped at the historic cemetery, the old church ruins near Bar island, the HMAS Parramatta wreck before anchoring up and enjoying the evening at Mooney Mooney Club for birthday dinner. Then more drinks with the Mrs back on the boat Saturday morning we fished drifting around the highway bridge for 1 x 35cm squire. Then we decided to venture back over to Mooney Mooney Club again for lunch. After lunch we decided to cruise up to Berowra Creek, find a nice spot and anchor there for the night. We did manage to find a very tranquil spot with our own little private beach and another pricless view. Anchoring close enough that the beach was easily reachable by dinghy. Beers were consumed, fishing rods set and i decided to wander off in the dinghy on a bear grills adventure lol, i went to the beach wandered up and down the river while my Mrs sipping southern and my son fishing sat in the Walrus finding it amusing watching me venture around. When i got back to the FV Walrus and told them of the interesting trip they then wanted to go hahahahaha. I was a bit rowed out by then so i just took us all over to the little beach we had anchored near and ran around like some robinson crusoe family lol. Upon return to the boat a 39cm flathead was found attached to my sons rod(yes all in holders with clips attached ). We caught a few fish just as the sun was dropping and maybe 45 minutes after but after the flatty all were under and went back. The evening was a repeat of drinks, bbq, music and fall onto the bed . Sunday morning we left Berowra around 10am to cruise back upstream. The trip was very difficult on some stretches of the river due to the wind that came up around 11am, most of the way we could tuck in against the cliff side of the river and get out of the wind but a few times we got hit straight on, glad the tide was running in. In the wind the FV Walrus really showed why i named it such, it handled like a racing walrus on a mud track ! Even on Friday when the whole river was a millpond the Walrus performed very poorly, setting a straight corse was very difficult, i have driven 60 - 70 ft ers that handled much better. Due to the Walrus perfoming so disgustingly i had to do alot of the driving until the Mrs got the hang of it otherwise i would have consumed more beer lol hahaha. Although the Walrus performed badly we didn't let it ruin our trip, it was quite a joke once i named it the FV Walrus and told my Mrs and son that it handled like a racing walrus on a mud track. Thats our adventure for my birthday and weekend trip Thanks, Parrot
