  1. Hi all, Will be down at Sussex for the next week or so. If any fisho's fancy a fish drop me a message as I will have access to a boat. Limited internet down there so may not reply straight away. Looking to try for some big flatties out of the basin! Look forward to seeing some of you hopefully. Cheers, Andy
  2. Hi Guys, Live in the Northern Suburbs (Five dock area) are there any good fishing clubs to become a part of around these areas? I've had a look online and there is a few popular ones like South Sydney for example. But that's based on a google search. Anyone got some good experience with any clubs? Thanks again for any help guys! Andy
  3. Morning guys, Looking to do a land based trip Sunday. Don't know if anyone is wanting to head out and fancies a fish? Not set on where to go yet, but want to make a day of it. Anyone know where there is a good bite on at the moment? Can fish beach or rock based if required. Thanks for any help guys. Andy
  4. I am free again this Sunday guys if anyone is going out. Thanks, Andy
  5. Hi Guys, Thinking of getting some squid jigs and wondered what your opinions are on brands, colours etc. Obviously, you can buy yamashita lures for 10-15 dollars a pop or get other chinese imports for cheaper. Has anyone found a difference in catch rate between brands/colour patterns? As is the case with most fishing location and fishing to the conditions is key and I wonder if this extra price tag makes a whole heap of difference. Squid don't seem to be too wary of hitting bait/lures in my experience. Thanks in advance guys. Andy
  6. Sunday came around again and decided to take some friends and another raider "AlaskaJeff" out for a fish. Started the day fairly late around 8pm at Brown's Rock. The top ridge was full as but the lower ledge only one guy so we perched up there. The tide was on it's way out so we only had a few hours of decent fishing at this spot. Got the burley sorted and started tackling my friends up when Jeff hooks into a fairly big lizard but unfortunately gets chomped off just after my cry of "We've sorted dinner already!". The next few hours saw my friends miss a few on bait and then on a retrieve in a squid has clamped onto the piece of pilchard we had. Jeff quickly rigged a squid Jig up and dropped it in and the Squid jumped on. Jeff should have pictures if he uploads them. I see what people mean now about Brown's and the mess. The lower ledge had a few tuna tins and hook packets etc laid around. I picked as much as I could up and took it away when we left. Bonus side of this I managed to get two new leads out of the process. Instant karma!?! Around lunch we moved down to dolls point and after some lunch started up again. The tide was coming in and conditions weren't really perfect but we managed to catch an octopus, to the amazement of Jeff and my mates. We also got a tailor and some small reddies. I hear it's meant to be good around there for flatties, one of the reasons I chose this area. Couldn't seems to get stuck into them on bait or lures. We were around the sail club beach and it looks a gun place for them there. Anyone got any areas that produce regularly near to there? But all in all was a great day out and enjoyed helping a few people catch some fish and have some fun catch and releasing. P.S. No one-eyed snakes ventured out at Brown's, think the colder weather may put them off due to shrinkage issues.
  7. Some good fish where that second pic is at the minute! Some big lizards knocking about! Solid catch mate!
  8. Solid catch mate! Imagine if you could have GoPro'd that fight! Catch of the month for sure!
  9. Mate, i'm not to fussed this weekend. Harbour king's potentially or Snapper if they're on at the moment. What you thinking? Cheers, Andy
  10. I've been using vibes loads at the minute for most other species and catching consistently. I wouldn't be surprised if I were to go for some Jews it would be the same outcome. You can get good vibe lures online too. Compare them to the shop bought ones and you'll find everything is exactly the same but so much cheaper. Only thing I change is the hooks if i'm going some bigger stronger fish.
  11. Hi guys, If anyone is going out Sunday and has a spare seat please drop me a message. I can bring my own gear and will contribute to petrol/bait etc. Have some boat experience and am more than happy to help clean down afterwards. Based in Chiswick but can also drive to get out if required. Thanks in advance guys. Andy
  12. Some hybrid predator. Sydney harbour must have some mad crossbreeds in it!
  13. Haha, exactly how I found the place on Sunday. Was at dolls, too windy. Out comes the phone saw La perouse headlands on the map and consequently found Brown's rock. There's so many areas to explore! Is there any guys on here that could potentially come out on a session with me and show me the ropes properly? I am winging it at the minute and hate losing fishing especially from breaks and stuff as I don't want the fish left tethered with hooks and stuff. Any information you guys give me is useful. I've got a handle on soft plastics and bream fishing now so thought I'd put my 3lb T/C Greys Prodigy+ rods to the test with something bigger off the rocks or beaches around Sydney. Cheers, Andy
  14. It was really quiet this weekend. But that was probably down to the weather. Only me and one other family on there. Hopefully I will get down this week and see what is happening. Do any of you know if Henry's head further up is worth a go?
  15. I've heard about this. It's making me not want to wander down there this week with the hot weather haha. How big kings we talking?
  16. That did cross my mind. Went at 100 mph and I had no chance of stopping it. Ill be going back soon anyway a bit better gunned and see how we go.
  17. Hi all, Took some friends to Brown's rock yesterday after walking round dolls point and realising it was to windy. First time i've ever been rock fishing really. Gave the heavier of my two outfits to my friends as I thought it would give them a bit more of a chance should they hook a kingy or a decent snapper. I chose to use my small spinning rod with a Sienna 1000 FA (Big mistake). Anyway, 20 minutes in I pull up a flatty around 50cm or so. Gave a good account of itself but unfortunately fell off on the surface whilst trying to negotiate getting it up the wall. Kind of glad in a way as I would have probably released him. Another 20 minutes go by and after getting plagued by leather jackets for 4-5 casts I get a decent thump. Lift into it and then realise I should have used the other set up with my shimano 6000 bait runner and 2lb t/c rod. I got stripped by what I can only think was a trevally, rat king or snapper. This thing went left at 100mph towards the shallower part of Browns rock and just kept going. So after this, I tried with the heavier gear for a bit, in the same areas and nothing. Switched back to the light stuff hoping for another flattie and the same happened again almost instantly. Can anyone provide any advice or shed some light as to what fish are lurking round that area and what size they grow too? All the reports on here are from years ago for around there. It was evident they, whatever they are, were there but were so picky if using a heavier lead and sempt to shy away. All the fish came on a light inline lead with relatively small bait keeper hooks. Any time I stepped the gear up, bigger hooks and leader 16lb fx, nothing but leather jackets picking away. If anything I had some good sport and enjoyed the few hours we had there. Will be going back in the near future with my Shimano terez 15-30lb and my bait runner to try and pull out whatever is lurking beneath! Any information you can give me will be a help! Cheers, Andy
  18. Fished off the new balmain wharf yesterday and pulled out the grubbiest old handline with a lure still attached. It clearly had been thrown in some time ago. I wish people would just use a bin!
  19. I was up that way around a month or so ago and had some good success with bream and flatties in and around the river systems. Next time I'm up I will drop you a message and maybe we could chuck a line out! That sea wall looks good for a big GT at the right time of year.
  20. Will be heading down in the next few weeks to Austi/Thirroul area if anyone fancies a fish?
  21. Hi mate, Live in the five dock area and can offer some experience on boats but not a massive amount. Have a few areas for jewies and kingy's. If you fancy a trip out let me know. Cheers, Andy
  22. High tide tomorrow at iron cove will be about 4:30 which would be perfect for us if we're going after work. Let's hope the storms and high pressure disappear! I'd be game for iron cove for a few hours if not blackwall as not fished that yet.
  23. Yes boys! I'm from Sheffield so not too far from you! I'm thinking I may go out Thursday evening and Saturday morning with some SP's. Let me know how you are both fixed and we can sort something if the tides/weather play ball. Let's not talk about Rugby it's not going well for either nation currently! Wanna try and target some kingy's and Jewies around Gladesville soon though! Either of you got access to a boat? Cheers, Andy
  24. Hi mate, Up in the North of England. If you are free any time in the next few weeks for an evening session i'll happily go for a walk around Iron cove or try blackwall point with you. Been having some decent success with flatties, tailor and bream recently around those areas on the right tide so worth a shout. Cheers, Andy
  25. Hi mate, New to this game myself as just over from the UK but if you are looking for someone to go out with I'd happily go out with you. I live in the five dock area so not far from yourself. Look forward to speaking with you. Cheers, Andy
