  1. Thanks that sounds "easier" than I thought :) - It's just amazing how the gulps can produce such fish........

Sincerely appreciate the info - got something to go on now ... good luck out there and keep the reprots flowin'!

Hey Haraka, Just remember one thing "if you think you are fishing too shallow.......fish shallower" I have caught and lost fish in water as shallow as 3 metres. :05:

  2. Glad you liked the report and pics lads

Haraka, i've got nothing to hide as i am still learning myself. What works well for me is the 5 inch gulp jerkshads in most colours however my favourite colour is 'sardine', the top fish came on the lime/tiger colour. I was fishing between 5-11 metres, and the retrieve was allowing the plastic to hit bottom and then giving it a few short sharp tweakes of the rod tip. There are no secrets really, you just have to experiment. :yahoo:

    Laredo,

JB is fairly protected in the right conditions, however we were fishing into a very stiff SSeaster, luckily the wind was at our back.

  3. I finally got out for a serious UNI free soft plastic snapper session, unfortunately the wind was blowing 30+ but the fishing was amazing. All up we landed 4 keepers and good mate Shannon got smoked by 2 fish estimated at 6kg+ each.

It was a top day, and i am so glad UNI is over. I told you the snapper weren't safe anymore.

    Catch ya later.

    About 3.5kg

  4. Yes, I was there last Friday.

Caught two legal size snapper! The swell and tide was low, nice time to be there.

    Hi tom,

How deep were you fishing and what did the bottom structure consist of. ?

  5. I went to three shops this afternoon on the hunt for this new placcy, but alas, no prawns :(

Anyone know of a store in west Syd that has stock?

    Rick.

    Rick,

Apparantly they will be released in the next month or so.

  6. Hi Raiders,

I picked up the 2007 Squidgy catalogue today and noticed the new Stealth Prawn in the range. Has anyone used them or seen them in stores? Where have you seen them? Any success?

    Flattieman.

  8. ATG - that is a quality snapper mate!! Puts my little 2.5kg jobs to shame! :ranting2::ranting2:

Seriously top fish - it looks like theres some nice snapper fishing to be had down Nowra way. What sort of water depth were you in?

Im assuming the good ole berkley jerk shad done the damage on that puppy?

    Cheers

    Anthony

Thanks Loomy, i am still smiling :yahoo: It was caught in 11m of water and caught on the new Berkley 'Gulp' 5 inch jerk shad in sardine colour. I love these new lures so much, i bought 20 packs from MO's this week.

  9. Wooohhhaaa - that is some effort.

I wonder what is the biggest red caught on plastic is so far. I reckon this one would be nudging it right up there.

    WELL DONE!!!

Dunno about the biggest, but the guy in the above pic took me out last saturday and i caught my PB on a plastic......all 5kg of it.

  10. ATG - im pretty sure at this point in time - only the finesse estuary based scene is covered, although i heard heavier "saltwater" models are on the way - time will tell i guess.

OK cheers, the bigger puppies would be GOLD on the snapper

  11. Hi Raiders,

I am heading to Ulladulla and Nowra for a few days next week.

Through consulting various fishing books, websites and maps, I have come up with the following plan of attack:

Ulladulla: Head south to Burrill lake for flatties on sp, also pump yabbies (are they available?) for bream and whiting. Try spinning local beaches for salmon and tailor. If the weather is good (ie calm) head out of Ulladulla harbour for a shot at kings...

Nowra: Pump squirt worms and trap poddies at the island just down from the bridge (is it possible? too muddy?) then fish them near the bridge. If this doesn't work out then head towards the mouth to pump yabbies and get poddies?

Any feedback or further advice GREATLY appreciated.

Will post a report when I get back.

    Cheers,

    OLC.

You are right on the money there, however forget fishing near the brifge, there are plenty of flatties but they are generally small. Instead i suggest you head up river till you come to the first feeder creek (about 1klm from the bridge) and drift the drop off close to sure for some solid flathead. You have every chance of jagging a jew there as well. The run in tide is best in that possie. Good luck

  12. water temp might have an effect on the small soaps. i guess not on the big ones cause i have heard heaps of reports of 10kg+ jews landed off the 3rd runway on live yakkas latey. i guess the larger ones do as they feel.

i recon the small soaps will be up the river. larger ones near the mouth

luke, not sure on that. last year there were 15+ boats floggin the bridge almost every night i was out there and last year was a cracker season. i havent seen as many this year but i have only been out there 3 or 4 times the last 3 months. before that it wasnt that busy either. glad the kings are close by or i'de go nuts :tease:

That's cause all you lot caught them all last year :1prop:
