The trick with surface lures is patience. Fish them as slow as possible and then when you think you’re fishing too slow, fish slower.

Cast out, wait for the rings to disappear from around your lure, then twitch only enough to create more rings. Stop again and wait, then repeat.

You’ll get them, just a matter of being patient.

As for spinnerbaits, you’re on your own there, I’ve never been able to get a fish on one lol. Apparently they are very affective, but I just don’t have faith in them, and I reckon if you don’t have faith in the lure you’re using, you’ll never have success.

Thanks man yeah I have tried the go super slow method still big fat zero I am talking like at least 10 outings than I put on a shallow diver with in 20 casts bang lol I am on

  2. Gday all,

need a bit of help, been fishing for bass for only a little bit now been using poppers, spinnerbaits, cicada's and shallow divers lures the thing is I fish at night in a dam were bass are and I can only catch them on the shallow divers that's it. I know people have a lot of success with spinner baits I work them in different depths and different speeds still nothing.

    any help would be awesome.

Yes, Neil, and I’m lucky I still have a job! Not so lucky I have lost $80k off my super so far though! Looks like retirement will have to be deferred and I’ll have to ride it out! I reckon we’ll be in total lockdown by Monday...

    Berleyguts,

sorry to hear that mate but if you don't mind me asking is that through your work super or do you have a personal super account?

  4. morning all,

I hope this does not become a massive debate but which is a better knot for passing through the rod guides the FG Knot or an Albright Knot?

    thanks in advance

I wonder how it is with the current wash of rainfall through though, Im tempted to have a look on the weekend, but I suspect it will be plenty murky, maybe down towards lion island might be ok, however, I usually fish upstream, at least past the railway and road bridges towards and or around Milson Island

man loin island will be dirty brown water as well we need a few very big king tides to wash it all away, I would think at least 1 month

Certainly Councils have more important things to worry about.

What's next head protection for anyone playing footy, boxes and other protective gear for anyone playing cricket.

The nanny state is out of control!!!!!!

I agree with you that we are a nanny state but as much as I really don't want to fish with a life jacket off the stones I have to now cause stupid people take stupid risks, 90% of the fishing I do is rock fishing I have seen on some very rough days and I say narr not worth it while others will take stupid risks and gamble their life
