Hi there thanks to above members I dont have to elaborate in detail of information.

I used to have 40pound motor and 100ah battery and combination hobie mirage drive, 15km range  with varying speeds. Going home was tough with this dead weight motor15kg and battery 16kg drained. So I upgraded with Bixpy jet weight about 1.2kg motor and 404 watt lithium battery. Total weight about 7kg with motor adapter and battery.

Range and speed depends on your kayak hull design.

I have 3 lithium  batteries which is enough to cover a full day. Expensive but vary quite and light. Recently I have sent these motors to Bixpy USA for warranty repairs.

Mean while I have been looking into 2 stroke petrol engine jet1212884832_jetengine(1).thumb.jpg.71f236d9be32b59e05f2d329bb1b45d7.jpg1601711186_pic(1).thumb.jpg.b7920f597065e0f725fd059609db0c8e.jpg

These motors are used in Brazil kayak fishers and there are not cheap (A$700 with freight) to import from Brazil but I found the manufacturer supplier can supply me with a sample cost A$200 approx plus freight and tax.

Going to install into mounting of mirage drive location. No more expensive battery to replace and charge.

Just carry enough fuel no worries except the noise and fume.

Anyone interested in these motor private message me. Still waiting for payment details from China supplier.

I actually just bought a  stroke one similar to this on Wednesday. Not a jet though

Its all set up and ready to rock, but bad timing as I'm away this weekend so I cant test it out just yet.

8kg or just under 9kg with a full tank off fuel. Runs on 95 unleaded.

    Ill keep you posted.

  2. Hi Raiders,

Just got back from Vanuatu. In a shop by the beach was this old motor. It was heavily encrusted and obviously been in the water for years.

Love seeing things like this, and id love to ponder what happened to get it at the bottom of the ocean in the first place.

  3. Hey Tommy, few weeks back the Narra lake was closed at the mouth (on purpose ) and they were doing work with diggers west of the bridge. Water looked crap. maybe take the yak to Clontarf or little manly and try your luck in the Harbour.

Hi Mark. Depends how much you want to use it, how long you want it to last and if weight is a factor. I take it, it’s going in a kayak?

Indeed it is. And it will get me from North harbour, to north head, to Middle head and back to north harbour marina . Just need to work out motor size and battery size.

Hi all, just joined although been stalking these forums and others for many years.

Names Sammy, everyone calls me squirt and thats how i normally introduce myself. Been fishing for most of my life, live on lake macquarie (across the road from it) but most of my time is spent here in sydney due to work,

2 kids, 4 year old boy and 16 month year old girl, who both of them have already taken to fishing, no boat as yet but plan to get one shortly. Fish atleast twice a week whether its going for the mighty mud marlin (carp) with mates after work or going for some good eating fish up home in lake mac,

Hope to put some reports up soon, as im sydney based most of the week, im always keen to go for a night flick, whether it be chasing carp in a local pond or driving for an hour to get to the salt water.

Best pb for night fishing was a 56cm Flathead on some corn at apple tree bay, and a 40 odd cm bream at church point. normally just use light gear, 2-4kg rod and some decent braid, makes the fight more fun, and really really light gear for carp,

    Tight Lines guys and gals,

    Regards Squ!rt

    Welcome Squirt,

I'm original a Central coast fella, but now in Manly.

I'm sure you'll find plenty of good spots around Sydney to drop a hook in. Where are you in Sydney..?

Sometimes its better just to sleep in & tinker in the garage imo, or if your trying to get away from the missus then still say your going fishing & go look at some tackle, go to Bunnings or catch up with some mates ?

hahaha.. does getting pissed whilst watching the Wallabies get smashed count..?

Thanks Fella's, we all seem to think the same way. Appreciate the feedback.

  7. Gday Raiders.

I was planning a fish tomorrow morning but the winds picked up. I've never really fished when windy as I don't enjoy it.

Having said that, does anyone still get a lot of success on a windy day?

    Thanks Guys and Gals

    Mark

  8. Gday Raiders,

Wife works at manly Hospital, so after meeting her for lunch I ducked down to the rocks at Little manly for a flick.

Stayed only an hour and produced a nice 51cm flattie.

I did work for it however and covered a lot of ground in that time with quite a few SP changes before I had success. How goods this weather huh !!!

    Cheers Mark

I keep all my soft plastics in a scented bag. Can't remember exactly what is was I filled the bag with, all I know is that I've never had any issues with it breaking down the plastic, and oh boy do they smell. I feel like doing that is much easier than applying scent from a tube every half an hour, and I can't really think of a downside for it.

Thx Aardvarking, that's a damn good way to go about it. @Weelzy and Dirvin thanks also for your imput, Guess ill be using some Sfactor tomorrow.

    Cheers Mark.

  11. Burley up heaps and throw out corn or bread on a small hook without a float or any weight. Just let it look as natural as possible.

They always come in under the ducks when they are being feed. Can use the same technique with bread off the dam wall to catch small Bass as well.

  12. Gday Raiders,

I've always been sceptical about putting scent on SP's. I always thought the action, retrieve and rod tip movement did the job. I have heaps of tubes of Scent and was wondering if I should give it a try.

What's everyone's thoughts on the subject?

    Cheers Mark.
