  1. Hi Noel, yeah I'll ditch the stronger leader. I went stronger as there's plenty of fish like tailor that bite you off. But I'll see if the bites improve on the thinner line. As for rods, the speciality bream ones I've seen have all been very thin and whippy. I assumed its because the bream can feel resistance but I'm only a newbie so forum regulars can correct me if I'm wrong.
  2. Hey guys, I purchased one of these recently for fishing the beach and its a nice rod, however my usually large fish quota has dwindled. I have 10lb fireline going to a 10kg leader whereas before I just used a samaki zing rod with 6kg mono. The bream are pretty selective around here. I'm going to try going back to the 6kg mono on the new rod and see how I go. Just hoping the new rod isn't too stiff for the bream. Its medium heavy but is fairly whippy. When the waves are rough you tend to get a bit overwhelmed with the lighter spin rods. Thoughts? Cheers
  3. Hey guys. Was just wondering if anyone buys gear from overseas tackle stores and gets it shipped here. I've done it for my other hobbies and saved alot but I'm not aware of fishing stores in the US that ship here (or if its financially viable) Does anyone buy from OS ? Cheers
  4. Thanks Luke. I was looking at that reel actually. That well known camping and fishing store has the pflueger salt combos on sale. I could probably score the reel and a rod for my $150.. Not bad Hey guys. I looked at the pflueger salt. The 6000 was a bit big and heavy and they didn't have a 5000 in stock. The guy spoke highly of the daiwa saltist. Which is on sale too for around $130. Are these reels pretty on par? Cheers

  6. Hi Roylo, Mostly off breakwalls and the beach when the surf isnt too big. My current reel seems to be hard work to reel in against the tide and with even small fish on the hook. And I busted the anti reverse mechanism with a small whiting. Just after something that makes the job easier and will hopefully last a few years
  7. Hi guys, I'm a newbie and looking to replace my cheap Jarvis walker 8ft combo spinning reel with something a bit better built. (I'm already on my 2nd one since Xmas) I'm hoping to get something I could also switch to larger surf rods too occasionally. My budget is around $150. The current reel is a 650 so I'm guessing around 6000 level could be the go. Any advice appreciated.
