Thanks for your replies. Got the ABU 6600 Stx. What a great little reel and is perfectly balanced on my rod. I put some 14lb line on off an old reel I had but it has sooo much stretch. 90% of my fishing is with bait so looking to spool it with 8kg or 6kg either platypus Lo stretch or platinum. What do you think?

I am retired so can go fishing whenever. Live in Sydney so looking at places like Stockton or central coast for flathead, bream and tailor. with regards to wind strength & direction. Tides and swell. When should I plan to go and when should I stay home and read Fishraider. Thanks

I agree wholeheartedly but fresh local green prawns are hard to come by at times where I am. hence my question. Will fresh green prawns from the local seafood shop or Coles, Woolies etc. do the job or are they a waste of money.

I have a bit of a gripe. i go fishing with my son in the Hawkesbury drifting for flathead Now the gripe. I am sick of paying good money for packets of Hawkesbury prawns and find that 90% are too small to even thread on a hook. Spending half my fishing time sorting through them looking for a reasonable size one. Note these are not purchased from servos or the like. Now a question. Are prawns that you can buy from fish shops in shopping malls as good as local prawns as they are probably imported. thanks got that off my chest.

Hi guys, I have a 9 foot overhead spinning rod and looking for a reel for it. It will be used for general beach fishing (flathead, bream & tailor) and occasionally spinning. The reels I am considering are. Diawa millionaire 300. Shimano corvalus 400 & Abu 6600 spooled with about 14lb line. Anything larger would not be balanced. looking for your thoughts on the reels mentioned and also would you suggest using braid. cheers
