  1. Went out fishing with a couple of mates on Tuesday, the weather was good and winds were down as forecast.Unfortunatly the fishing was not.Went to FAD near peak, not much happening there. So headed for wide FAD,nothing there either. We lost a few rigs while trying to score some dollies. We decided to try a drift for flatties off Maroubra but between the five of us in two boats we lost at least six rigs per person. Not happy!!We did here a few reports of a couple of dollies but you had to be there at sun up.
  2. Just wondering if anyone has been fishing off Malabar,Maroubra for a feed of Flathead as i haven't heard nothing lately.Peak or 12 mile?????

  11. MATE FAIRLY WIDE.. WE DROPPED TWO HORSES ON THE WAY UP.
  12. Mate is was lumpy and wet.... Towards the afternoon it settled down abit. strong current and persistent squalls.. we held bottom with the sea anchor. We also had a trawl along the cliff faces from the heads down to cronulla to try and snare a kingy.. all quiet....
  13. HI fellow fishers, me and my brother caught these in 45 metres off the kurnell lighthouse sunday afternoon. Used pillies and prawns. Caught the flatties down south and mowies off lighthouse. Skinned the mowies and gave them away to a neighbour as they taste like bootpolish. Ahh retchid things! cooked up the red rockie from a recipe off the internet.... poor mans lobster and it was grouse! we always throw em back..... not anymore! The weather was sodden all in all not a bed effort as we just ate em. Flatties in cornflake crummies are nice too! with some ales..
  14. Sounds like you guys did really well.By the way where did you score your squid

  17. Giday Warnie, I,m just about to pick up my Reef Queen and was reading your thread about traces all very good.I,m just wondering how your attaching the four 130lb traces to your main line. You mentioned crimping. Is there a three way crimp for achieving this.Do you have pics? Also would you be able to give me a few co-ordinates for these monsters of the deep.
  18. Here,s a picture of Scotty down rigger1085 it has a 30" boom and has about 60m of 150lb wire.I,m just not sure about line capacity. As you say i,d need about 1000m of braid.Just wondering what you or someone out there thinks?Would it work?
  19. Not fishing.NOT IN THESE CONDITIONS.Went out on thursday with the brother, started at our usual spots to try and get some livies.Verry quiet. So then to head out to try and get a feed of flatties, but the jackets were out in plague proportions.(NOT AS THE REPORT HAD MENTIONED)So with near perfect conditions we headed out to the 12 miler. We fished off the bottom for 2 mowies,1 under size Kingy and bugger all else.Except for getting caught up on the pro lines. One thing that was a buz we saw what looked like some type of whale. The size of a calf.Brother recons it could of been a pilot whale. It was quite interested in us as it swam up to us and right under the boat.Came back close for 1 flatty. Can,t wait for a run of fin
  20. I was just wondering if anyone has or knows of someone who has used a downrigger for use at Browns Mountain.I was looking at possibly using my Scotty 1085 30 Downrigger as a substitute for a 1425 Reef Queen. As i looked into the costs i,d be looking at forking out at least $900.And as you all know you can only hide so much from the misses, especially now with online banking giving them total access to banking details.Anyway just a thought. Also if anyone does know of a case, would they know of line capacity of the above mentioned downrigger, say using 37kg braid??
  21. Well done sounds like you guys had a top day.Did your crew cube at all?By the way what are the SBT like on the plate?
  22. Don,t be too upset, they have a salary cap to contend with. But yes i too think they,ll miss him next year.He was with out doubt the form half back during the first 7 rounds when orford was out .Probably should have had a run during the origin at some stage.I write this just as Manly beat Parra.A good solid performance.I hope they make the grand final Go Manly!
  23. Only good thing about this weather is i get to leave work early.Looks like i,ll be rained off tomorrow as well Bring back the warm weather and those dollies
  24. Hi all,my first post and not my last.Have been keeping an eye on all posts, particulary blue water.Have seen some great photos of recent which keeps me keen.I will be looking forward to the oncoming Tuna season. If last year was anything to go by it should be fantastic.Have recently spooled up the Tiagras and Penn in anticipation.Havent fished as wide as Browns but will be looking forward to it.Will be keeping a close look at all reports locally out of Sydney.Haven,t heard much up hear except for report down south. Would be good to hear from any seasoned Tuna fishos for any tips and updates Cheers
