  1. Thanks fellas for the responses. Went out yesterday from tunks at 7am with higher hopes but only to get similar results. 2 bream one 34cm the other about 10cm and a chopper. Went up to sailors bay and also around sugarloaf but could not find a fish anywhere. finished at around 3pm cheers mac
  2. Hi all I haven't been fishing in ages so I didn't care what the weather was doing as long as the wind was down I was going fishing. Since I haven't been out in ages I didn't know what to expect. Headed out at 7 am from tunks in the kayak and worked my way from bay to bay fishing the drop off from the flats. Was targeting flathead, fishing 3-4 inch zman plastics. Started out slow with only a few choppers caught then the rain came down and I got a few pinkies. It was now about 10 am with the rain was well and truly coming down and the fish seemed to go off the bite even the choppers which I was getting a bite from every 3rd-4th cast. Continued fishing in the rain and with nothing to show for it I decided to call it quits by 1 pm with only 3 tailor, biggest was around 30cm and a couple pinkies no bigger then 20cm. anyone got any tips for winter flathead in the harbour?? I normally get a couple but it just seemed dead today. Will be heading out hopefully tomorrow and Monday with better results. Still had a good time as it has been so long but a bad days fishing still beats a good day at school. cheers mac

  6. hey raiders i haven't been out fishing since the end of jan this year and its driving me crazy. I can hopefully get out in the kayak this sunday but wondering whether to fish middle harbour (launch from tunks park) or cowan creek (launch from apple tree bay). I have had most of my success in middle harbour in the past but wondering if cowan would be a better op. Mainly going after your standard species like flathead, bream etc... on soft plastics. Also are the kings still around middle harbour?? Cheers raiders Mac
  7. hey mate, unlucky with the bonito but im just wondering where abouts you where fishing? cheers mac

  9. Hi All used to fish from the rocks a lot on the south coast chasing bream, drummer and grouper but i have never tried it up here in Sydney. Just wondering if anyone can point me in a general direction to where i could target pelagics or drummer from the rocks on the Northen Beaches. would love to catch a bonnie or king from the stones. Also is it to late in the season to be targeting pelagics from the stones? cheers in advance Mac
  10. hey mate cheers for the report. have tried narra lakes a few times in the yak with not much luck you got any tips?

  12. Hey Raiders I have never tried to catch live bait before in middle harbour or from a kayak and am after a few pointer to where I can catch either yakka's or squid around middle harbor preferably west of the spit bridge. I normally launch from tunks or Roseville and am kayak based. cheers in advance for the help Mac
  13. cheers for all the replies and suggestions everyone will definitely apply them to my knot tying of the Albright
  14. hi all went out fishing yesterday and my Albright broke at the knot 2 twice on two different rods while I was casting. I normally tie a double uni to join leader to mainline but I didn't like how bulky it was and the Albright is a lot slimmer. I have been using the Albright knot for the past 2 months and this has never happened before. I normally do 6-8 wraps up and down, is this a good amount? Anyone know why it would be slipping/braking or any good slim leader knot for casting beside the FG as its a bit tricky to tie in a kayak. cheers mac
  15. Hi, I’m a long-time reader but contribute very little to the forums. I’m a mad keen kayak fisho and want to hit up middle harbour for kingfish this summer in the yak. Anyone got any tips or advice for fishing this area. I normally launch for tunks and fish the upper bays but I have never been around or past the spit. I know squid are gun baits and are there any spots to catch squid around middle harbour? Or any bait grounds for yakka’s up that way? If I can get live bait I probs troll them around the moorings in middle harbour, is this method recommended? Any tides or moon phases that work better than others? I’m Not after your “spot x” just tips and advice for fishing the area and land my first king. Any help much appreciated. Cheers, Mac
  16. cheers guys for all the responses. just one more question: what are safe conditions for venturing out off long reef in a kayak e.g wind and swell conditions. cheers once again macbook
  17. yer i was trying to find the yakkas but all i could find where pesky pike.
  18. cheers razzell, how did u end up going out at long reef the other day?
  19. hi all Brand new to the forum but i have been kayaking for a while now and have mostly been fishing in middle harbour but i want to start fishing off long reef. Only problem is i got no idea what to expect or what to target. I went diving off long reef headland the other day and saw kingfish, salmon and snapper so should i be targeting them or should i look into targeting another fish. Also are there any safety consideration i should be making for fishing the area. Can u get live bait out off long reef or is it more of a lure fishing spot. I plan on a trip out on Tuesday and want to target kings with live bait and snapper with plastics but not sure if thats a good technique for the area. any help would be great and helpful. cheers macbook
  20. i just got a kayak and was as wondering about fishing apple tree bay that part of the Cowan Creek.
