  1. Ive been wanting to try fishing from groynes recently as there is more habitat for the fish to be in and i hear you can get some big flathead and trevally fishing them in dolls point. I was just wondering where the best place to fish is. I would be fishing the run out tide but should i be casting from the beach close to the groynes? From the gyroynes out into the bay? Or from the gryones and cast out to the side. Should i be casting near them or far from them? I would think the fish are close to the rocks but i dont want to get snagged everytime i hook up or even just when bringing the line in.
  2. Cheers everyone, ill head out to bunnings and make some 3 and a half foot holders
  3. So this is probably a stupid question but if you dont ask you dont learn! How long should PVC pipe be when using it as a rod holder on the beach. Ive read online numbers between 2 and 5 foot. Ill be using it with a 6'6 rod for bream, whiting and flathead if it helps. Id obviously like it to be on the shorter side for transport but also dont want to lose a rod
  4. Was just wondering if anyone here uses coloured fishing line. I bought some Diawa sealine line as it had the best mm/lb ratio and was relatively cheap. I've just been using it alone but was wondering if anyone knows if the colour disappears or if fish cant see certain colours etc. I know Fluro helps but I want to keep things very simple. Do i really need Fluro and if so would 40cm from swivel to hook be enough? (The picture im attaching is just a google image example, Im only using 10lb line but the colour is the same)

    Burley set up

Seems like a good idea. If you are looking for something abit more simple try mixing water, chicken pellets and tuna oil/pilchard. Let them sit for a minute and then squish it all up and throw a handful every now and then. This is works great with a baitrunner, tiny sinker and a pilchard cube.
  6. Well thats out! Thanks for the info
  7. Hey there everyone, I live in the botany bay area and often fish Dolls point, Sandringham and sylvania. A few times ive been on the bay with friends who have a boat and noticed people fishing Trevally ally (just up from yarra bay) from the retaining wall. I was just wondering if anyone has fished from there in the past and want to know how safe it is. Also any other Botany bay land spots wouldnt fall on deaf ears!
  8. Hey there, i was wondering what type of line would be best for general bream, trevally and flathead fishing in botany bay. I have a medium 6"6' rod that is 3-6kg. I feel like the line im using now is too heavy I was also wondering if anyone knew any land fishing spots around the bay. I've tried a wharf near capt cook bridge that is full of yellowtail and baby bream/snapper but legal sized fish seem very rare
