mate all we ever caught there were small taylor, Big Pike Eels, a few large mullet and a small bull shark most were on white bait, plastics and small hard bodied

i recon it's a rock cale (crap eating) if you've ever snorkled there, you'd see thouisands of them there

Dicko, I here there are a few rat king out in 70m marks but i hvaen't heard much on the beach or rocks as of late i know there are a few salmon and the odd soapy about off Port as i have been chasin a few over the last month, but with all the rain the talior just haven't been around. i have heard there is a pretty good run of blackfish up there over the last month though cheers dave

Thanks boys, i took the day of work and went out wide of crowdy head jigging for kings, no king were caught but a good day in all (any day not at work is a good day).

Mate You can Eat any fish out of Jounama pondage, Talbingo or blowering Dam. Jounama is a holding pond for the hydro during peak time the run the genrators the in the off peak time the buy power back and run the genrator in reverse as pumps, pumping water from jounama back into Talbingo with what didn't get pumped back up gets release in blowering dam (which is also agood place to catch yellowbelly, cod, redfin and the odd trout). I haven't used the Gulp baits on trout but i don't see why they wouldn't work. I normaly use fly, lures or on rare times where tuff and as a last resort the odd scrub worm or mudeye under a bobbie float was the go. As ralphe said the season for trout in rivers close (june long weekend to th october long weekend) as the trout head up the river to spawn. But the dams are still open. At this time of year around the river mouths are a good spot to start. If you fish blowering when the water level is low the arm near talbingo can be classafield as a trout river (as its the tumut river when the dam level get below a paticular %) so becareful. if you staying at the Talbingo carvan park the Owner Tony should be able to give you a bit more info if blowering is back to the river. mate there's not to many land base spots on talbingo and because it a very deep dam most of of the trout are caught on leadline. but jounama pondage the trout fishin in there can be Very good just wonder around the foreshore and flick lure at any structure/gravel bed/weedbed. any of you bream lures should catch trout but if you get a chance to buy some Red & Bronze, Green & bronze or Black & copper Celters in a size 2 or 3, or the good old Tassie devils in the hot pink, gold or green and gold in the 1 inch or 2 inch size's work well too. only with the Tassie devils run the line through the body of the lure through an orange beed and tie it directly to the treble (as i have lost 2 nice trout to the wire breaking throuh constant flex). goodluck Dave

mate the fishing and weather is very crap at the moment Way to much fresh. i'm actually thinking about heading somewhere dryer so i can have a decent fish all best anyway

the bottem corner of the south wall is the best spot with a few starting to be caught since the rains i would bother with the wharf or the canels as there hasn't been a blackie caught in either spot for a few months but if you get some rough weather of the end of shellies beach at the nursary should be worth a try Cheers dave

At the moment with all this rain the fishin and been very hard i drop a 60+cm flattis last sunday and boated a 43cm one in 8 hours of fishin from around the break wall apprantly there a are a heap of muddies in the upper reached but i find it hard to belive with all this fresh. send me a PM if you want a update closer to when you rock into port Dave

A mate brought a Quintrex 560 Freedom Cruiser with the 3lt, 135hp petrol MerCruiser in it about six months ago and we were thinking about taking it out to the FAD off port Macquarie but as we have no idea about the range as he has mainly been used to head up the river or around swansea. Does anyone have one and know what there range is? I am going to throwing 2x20lt jerrys in (as an insurance policy) and watch the feul gauge and head back if it gets down towards half a tank anyway. lure are pretty good at night i normally only get out at night on weekdays due to work and all but with plastics i like to use pumpkin seed gulps mostly on flatties and i get the odd bream and mullet as well. With hard bodies i use darker colours like black with white or grey stripes or purple with black stripes. most of my night fishing with hard bodies was on Murray Cod down in gods country (tumut/wagga/albury/snowie) and the purple and black was the gun of night lures). With the plastic i found that i had to slow my retrieve down, i also use bigger fatter plastic's then i would during daylight hours as they give a bigger silhouette Hope it helps dave

Got out for a on the 20th December but probably should have stayed home packing boxes as I was moving house on the Monday but you know sometime you’ve gotta do these things. Well the day started off at 5am putting the boat on the water and we thought that the weed beds around the boat ramp looked fishy again, so we decided to have a flick with 4 inch plastics, well what a disappointment in 2 hours of flicking and colour changes all we got was 1 undersize flattie. So off to our usual spot; well we get around the corner and the water was as brown as mud . Change of plan back to the clear water and a downsize of lure to a 3 inch squigy shad. we found a likely spot where the water was 4 to 5 feet deep and a few nice weed patches with plenty of bait fish well with my first cast of the 3 inch shad I jagged a 1 inch bait fish then about a 10 minutes later my rod buckled as if I hooked the bottom than all of a sudden line started to peel of my little bream outfit and first thoughts were crap I’ve hooked a stingray and as I was about to put the hand on the spool to put a stop to the run and pull the hook or bust the line which ever came first. It happened a few head shakes, (you beauty a decent fish it was about time) it took a further 15 minutes to coach her up into view and another 5 to get her to the net and boat. It was only when we went to take a few happy snaps that we realised that some numb nut left the brag mat at home (that would be me) but I must admit it was the first fishing trip in about 6 months that I actually put the camera' in so after a few happy snaps we let the big girl go to fight another day. The esky that the big girl is pictured on was 1050mm and she was hanging over the end by about 50mm when snug on the other end. in all she was a great fish that I am enjoying rubbing into my fishing partner who's only come back is "if it wasn't for me netting it you wouldn't have got her in the boat" well he is probably right as the plastic's hook was bent at 45 degrees when the hook was removed. Then the day turn bad with the motor getting a blocked water intake which meant that we had to use the electric motor to get back to the boat ramp. Well it was only a blockage but at least I now have some bragging rights for a while . Dave

Hazza, Check out the NSW fishing monthly they have a page in there with most of SWR charter operators contact details. Although hundgie is most likly on the money with the hoildays approaching most will be booked out til after the holidays but you may be lucky. In regards to any good ones up there i haven't heard too many bad reports about any of operators up there and i'd go out with who ever you could get out with, as this time of year some can be booked out 12 months in advance. Hey fellar's I grew up fishing both Blowering & Burrinjuck and they can both fire one day off the next and they a both dam where the local knowledge helps and as Moro Mou one day a certain part of the dam will be blistering hot with action and it may only be on one colour or lure type. we never camped on the boat nor did we leave lines in overnight as when we did we never caught much most of our night fishing was done slow trolling deep divers around the wall in blowering and near the Islands in burrinjuck. Just a note with blowering if you read that its firing then it's generally too late, and we never caught much when the Barometer dropping especially when she drops under 1018
