  1. Hey John I made a thread a few weeks ago about fishing Brissie Waters, see link below. There's a few location suggestions:
  2. Hey guys, Would love some input of your best performing lures for species such as: Bream, Flathead, Australian Bass, Kingfish, Jews, and any other species you enjoy targeting! a shop online store and a lot of other stores have some awesome sales up to 50% off at the moment so I want to take advantage and stock up on some must have lures! Cheers
  3. Hey guys, I'm in the process of fitting out this little tinnie for fishing. I'm in two minds about either a casting deck using the 2 front seats as the supports, or removing the middle seat and building a floor. I like the casting deck idea but it's not going to help the stability on this old Quinnie tinnie. It's not great when I stand on the seats on the water so I'm leaning towards removing the middle seat and building a floor, brining the centre of gravity lower. How does it look structurally? I know a lot of tinnies use the middle seat for support but this seat has a thick rib running right under it and the seat is only welded to the rib on each side, not the whole way along. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  4. Thanks so much mate! Heaps to take on there! I'll give all these spots a go. I'll need to invest in a fish finder asap so I can find some nice holes too.
  5. Hey guys, Hoping someone can give me some pointers! I just bought my first boat, a 12ft tinnie. Keen to get in to some fishing around Brisbane Water. I'm not that experienced fishing Australian waters/salt water.. I've been living in Africa the last 4 years fishing freshwater. Anyone have advice for some spots? I've heard around the rip bridge between woy woy and woy woy bay is good. Has anyone fished inside woy woy bay / horsfield bay / phegans bay in a boat? Any good spots for lure fishing? Happy to catch anything really! Thanks in advance
  6. Definitely a Quintrex. It's got the original plate still inside with "Quintrex Aluminium Boats" on it and above that it has max hp, and a serial number. There is a section for MTH - YEAR but unfortunately that's not stamped
  7. Just trying to decide what to do with them when I vinyl wrap it... I'll leave them on or re-fit, but I don't know if it'll be a mission to line rivet holes back up.. I used to wrap boats as a job so I'll see if I can slit the vinyl and wrap around the chines. It'll be a big mission but I'll keep everyone posted on the progress! Got paint stripper sitting on the paint atm, gonna strip it back to bare alum. Then vinyl wrap, casting decks. sounder, trolling motor and she'll be ready for a sesh!
  8. Hey guys, I bought this tinnie a week ago. Owner didn't know what it was. Rego papers say "Telwater" but I found an old faded plate inside that says Quintrex on it. It's 12ft long. Anyone have any idea what model it could be? Not a Sportsman.. they came in 13ft from what I could find and they also have 2 ridges along the hull (mine has 1) as well as the deep V concaved hull at the front. I'm pretty sure those spray chines at the front of the hull are aftermarket fitted as they're riveted on. Any input appreciated!
  9. The 9.9hp was very surprising! Got up on plane in a matter of seconds and just glided across the water beautifully. Didn't really notice the chines doing much.. although the water was quite calm when I took it out so they might do more in choppy weather
  10. Cool thanks everyone. I'll remove them for the paint/wrap then re-attach Nope haven't even taken her out yet. Got it yesterday. I'll take it for a spin this afternoon Not sure what it is. Rego papers just say Telwater but obviously they own 8 brands under them including Quintrex, Stacer, Savage. It looks a little different to the Quintrex Sportsman. That has 2 ridges running alont the hull and mine only has 1. Anyone have any idea what It could be?
  11. Okay cool. Is it necessary? Does it make a big difference? I've only got a 9.9hp on it so the boat won't be hammering along.. It's right in the way of the plans I have to paint and vinyl wrap the sides of the boat.. I'm considering removing it and plugging the holes with aluminium brazing rods..
  12. Hey guys, Just bought my first boat. It's a pre-loved 3.7m tinnie. It's painted with house paint so I'm going to strip it back to bare metal and repaint but I am not sure what this bar is? Can anyone shed some light? Haven't seen it on any other boats... It's riveted in to the hull. Pics below. Thanks in advance
  13. Hey guys, Hoping for a bit of advice. I'm new to fishing salt water.. I've lived in Africa for the last 5 years and fished only freshwater. I'm aussie originally but didn't really fish before that since I was a kid so back to square one really. I'm based on the lower central coast near ettalong/woy woy. I've had a few flicks (land based) but no luck. Does rain affect salt water fishing? Is this time of a year a good time for fishing? Best bait/lures atm for flatties? Cheers guys any help appreciated
  14. Cheers Rick looks like I'll be planning a trip up your way! Do you know if they'll start moving south to Umina/Ettalong in the coming weeks or have they already moved north from here?
  15. Not too far from me. Guess I'll have to head up north a bit to get in to the salmon then! Should they be arriving this area soon at this time of the year, or have they just departed? I'm not familiar with their seasonal movements. What have you had luck with off the beach? I'm completely new to beach fishing. Been living in Africa for the last 4 years and doing all freshwater bass fishing so this is all very new to me! Just got back a month ago
