  1. hi Steze, could you please pm me that link as well??

missus is going there in 3 weeks, saigon and vung tao, will

get her to check it out....she had a go last year of some rocks around vung tao

and bumped into a local who was also fishing...he told her not much around

and if there was its probably bait for us.

    cheers

  2. You can use dropper rigs with 2 hooks but i prefer using a single hook when baiting.

i use 30lb braid mainline and tie a leader about 1m long using a double uni.

i have a running sinker (size depends on depth and current) straight to the hook (4/0 or 5/0)

then put on a stripbait, however these days most of my snapper fishing is done with 5 or 7 inch

    plastics.

    hope this helps

    cheers

  3. hi

thanks for this great new forum...

i always wanted to use oil and lubes for my reels but never knew how to...can someone please show me where grease should go and where oil should be used??..im not very good at in-depth tech stuff but just a general idea so i can do some minor/basic maintenance to my reels and try to keep them smooth..oh and i also got a couple of tubes of hot sauce but yet to use them, and is singer oil ok for reels?

    thanks in advance..

  4. Went for a wonder earlier and noticed some bus shelter looking things alongside the footpaths and the seats have holes drilled in them to hold your rods. How cool is that!

Will seek refuge under them unless it gets too wild.....

how did you go???...will be around there on monday

first of all id like to apologise for the no-show...its hard juggling between work and kids :(

im glad you found the spot and caught a reddie, theres lots of them there and thats about the

average size. There was a weather change on monday night and the temp just dropped for the

rest of the week hence why the yellas shut down...anyway good excuse to come back and have another go!!!

  8. hey raiders.... i need to replace my old line on my over head as well as my spinning reel to be ready for this coming summer of reef bashing and plastic tossing for kings and reds. Ive got Fireline on my others reels and have also used Fins before and have found Fins to be far superior but when I went to my local tackle shop they had run out of 30lb Fins and now I wasnt sure which braid to buy, I didnt really want to buy Fireline again and were stuck with choices of Tuf XP, Powerbraid and I hear Suffix is also a reliable brand. Can I have other raiders opinions on which they prefer,pls,tnx..

i use fireline for all my plastic work but for anything else its bionic braid for me...great round braid line that holds good knots and casts very well.

  10. there's kingies at montague island but its a bit hit and miss these days, and you have to cross the bar. Other option is to launch from bermi, bit further to reach the island but no bar to cross. If you launch from Bermi, we have picked up some stripeys and albies between the six and twelve mile reefs (you might need offshore safety stuff like epirb...) if you find its too far out then there are a few reefs like the steps etc closer to shore, just drop by bermi bait and tackle and ask Scott for the good oil.

    hope this helps.

    cheers
