  5. You can use dropper rigs with 2 hooks but i prefer using a single hook when baiting. i use 30lb braid mainline and tie a leader about 1m long using a double uni. i have a running sinker (size depends on depth and current) straight to the hook (4/0 or 5/0) then put on a stripbait, however these days most of my snapper fishing is done with 5 or 7 inch plastics. hope this helps cheers tom
  6. well done Dave and crew!!! is snapper island the small island between the bar and tollgates? cheers tom
  7. for baitfishing off the beach i use the daiwa heartland 12ft Heavy....very very light stik and thin diametre but plenty off grunt down low and should be around your budget...for spinning i use the seajigger 10ft as it casts very well. hope this helps cheers tom
  8. hi Baz...my local bcf stocks them, not sure if there is one near you tho. cheers tom
  9. Agreed with the above..tld series or tyrnos, but the tyrnos will lose its shine and paint very quickly off the rocks. cheers tom

Heres one i got a few weeks back... cheers tom

there's kingies at montague island but its a bit hit and miss these days, and you have to cross the bar. Other option is to launch from bermi, bit further to reach the island but no bar to cross. If you launch from Bermi, we have picked up some stripeys and albies between the six and twelve mile reefs (you might need offshore safety stuff like epirb...) if you find its too far out then there are a few reefs like the steps etc closer to shore, just drop by bermi bait and tackle and ask Scott for the good oil. hope this helps. cheers tom
  24. i use an emblem pro....great tough reel that can cast a mile, also there is nothing wrong with using overheads as beach reels, as long as it matches the rod.
