  1. G'day, I've spent a good many hours fishing land based around the Roseville area, and I have found that strips of chicken breast is a 'gun' bait for large bream in the area. The fish are few and far between, but you need to be patient, and using chicken breast I can guarantee you'll increase your chances of picking up some snorker bream... Spizza. DY
  2. Well done Mick and Harry.... : I gotta get out there!! Spizza
  3. I have a mate who's dad thinly slices Salmon fillets, and then uses a smoker to cure the fillets. I tried it recently and believe it tasted sensational... He also uses a similar method used to prepare salted anchovies with olive oil, and it also tasted fab....especially with a cold beer. Spizza.
  4. Thanks Bashir. I've also heard that it's a worthy spot for Jew's as they venture out of their caves, in search of food in the gutters.
  5. G'day, I am just wondering if anyone has some tips regarding the different locations to fish a beach. I know that gutter formations, holes, and lagoon entrances are the ideal locations on a beach, but I'm wondering about those corner locations where the beach meets rocks. I usually fish the middle of a beach, but after viewing a particular Northern Beaches location, I'm tempted to hit this particular part of the beach where the beach runs into the shadow of rocks. Cheers, Spizza.
  6. Nice fish Soapie. You always do well with those big trevally's!! I've got to watch your jig technique next time I'm on board.... Spizza.
  7. Thanks for the day out Soapie. The Tailor are everywhere at the moment. After our middle harbour spin session, I went home, grabbed my beach fishing gear and headed to Collaroy beach. The gutters where thick with Tailor. There were birds dive bombing all around and this lasted for a good 2 hours... Spizza.
  8. Yep, went out again. Nth Narra was devoid of any decent gutters, so went back down to Collaroy and found a beaut gutter. There was only a couple of fishos there last night. Probably due to the storm cloud activity to the East. Lucky it stayed in the East. Wasn't looking forward to a lightning show whilst I was standing on the beach with a 13ft Graphite rod... Managed one chopper this time....rigged it up later in the night but no takers... There seems to be a lack of baitfish on the beaches, hence, the lack of Tailor around. My opinion. S. DY ps/ Aero, hope all is well down South!
  9. Darryl, it was a hard nights fishing. On top of the crowds, there was also weed to contend with, and a strong current which was screaming in a northerly direction. I'm gonna head to Nth Narra tonight and have a go there. Cheers, Spizza.
  10. Got down to Collaroy beach with the brothers to have a crack at Tailor and Jew on Tuesday night. By about 8.00 p.m there were that many people down there fishing, that I reckon we would have been able to hold hands and dance the Zorba! Again, the Tailor were a no show, and apart from a stray gummy, things were very quiet. Anyone else fairing better of the Nth Beaches at present? Spizza DY
  11. Soapie, when are you coming up for a bash you slacko! Spizz.
  12. Doing well with those sharks Bashir. I've done quite a few sessions on the Narra/Collaroy side and only managed a couple of small gummies. Spizza. DeeWhy
  13. I hit Collaroy beach with my brother last night for another Jew bash. While fishing for Tailor baits, my brother was blitzed by a powerful run that I called a good Jew. As is the case sometimes with Jewie fishing, my big Tailor slab got snubbed while my bother's pilchard got inhaled! The next 15 minutes saw my brother doing the good ol' 'Jewie dance', that funny awkward dancing you do with a fish that kept heading North and South of the beach with me and my brother in hot pursuit. The old Daiwa was releasing those lovely high pitch screams with each powerful burst the fish was making up the gutter. Just as I was about to get a visual on the fish it spat the hooks right in the last breaker in the surfer. It left me standing there all lonely whilst I cheekily dangled the lonely ganged hooks in my brothers stunned face... Ah well, there's always next time!! Spizza DeeWhy
  14. Nice fish Bashir. Seems like your doing well with the Sharks off Dee Why Beach. I hit Narrabeen beach last night which was quite congested. The Tailor and Salmon were a no show. Used some big Tailor slabs from fish caught last week, but no Jewies either. Spizza DeeWhy
