  1. From Memory, this spot is popular for squid fishing and any type set up with floats. Go to the Northern side if your are targeting pelagics.
  2. It depends on your definition of 80lb. If this is your PE main line rating (PE8), then the reel will need to be in the 14000 - 18000 size to get enough line lay on the spool. If you are referring to the leader fluro at 80lb, then your main line is probably PE3-PE4 then a 6000-8000 size reel will be the best fit.
  3. Yeah, I'm currently on PE1.0 J-braid. The briad is getting old and I am thinking of getting a PE0.6 or 0.8 egi briad which maybe is more waxy for longer cast.
  4. Most of the time, I fish off shallow bay such as Malabar or the rock side of the beach on Maroubra or little bay. Personally i found that they normally hit my jig in the first few jerk after casting hence why I'm trying to cast further to keep a long hit zone when rertrive. I haven't got much success around wharfs and piers.😆
  5. Hi Raiders, Just want to heard everyone's thoughts on the average/good casting distance when throwing out the squid jig. I've started learning squid fishing back in the summer of 2020 and loved it since the first squid session. I used to use my Daiwa Legalis 802MFS for my squid game and it works. I can cast about 35-38m on a windless day for a 3.0 jig Recently, i have decided to have an upgrade and purchase the 20 EMERALDAS MX 83ML rod hoping to improve my squid game further. It is definitly a good rod when it comes to the sesitivity of feeling the bit and the power it gives when fighting the squid. However, I didn't notice much on the improvement on the casting. Maybe I was getting 2-3m max extra casting distance which makes the average casting distance around 40m. I just want to see what you guys are getting in casting distance when fishing on landbased and maybe there is something that i can improve to cast it further. I have tried the bent barb+bead technique and it does increase the casting distance by maybe anothe 1-2m, but this technique do also reduce your cast rate as extra time need to be spent to fit the barb in the bead everything before you cast.
  6. Agree Little_Flatty, i can watch this all day. Sadly there isn't much content like ths on Youtube at the moment.
  7. Hi Ali, You are not along, I have been feeling the same thing for th past two week. Kingie activity has definitly been low from a land base perspective. a few little bust up has been seen on the patoon near the spit bridge rowing club but no bites. I feel like this season has been too wet and the water temparature is still too low. With again another week long rain predicted, we might need to wait until late Jan to early Feb to see decent Kingie runs,
  8. Thanks Mrs Sword, this PDF explained much much better. 🙆‍♂️
  9. Good day raiders, Just got an interesting question here, if a shore area is closed for spearfishing, e.g. the northern harbour/manly area, are you allow to snorkel down and collect Invertebrates such as sea urchin?
  10. Hi Radiers, First time posting here. Just want to see how everyone's fishing been lately on the harbour? I have gone fishing early morning session for about 5 times in the past one and a half weeks in various rock ledges of the harbour. E.g. Middle head, old man hat, near clifton garden and even around the bridge or blue point. Forecast was looking pretty good on fish activity and was hoping to bag my first summer kingie. However, i found that the harbour was more liftless than expected where usually the harbour should be pretty fired up by now. I'm mainly lure fishing with popper, stick baits, as well as spoons and shore jigging metals chasing all kind of Pelagics. How's everyone's experience so far land base in the harbour?
