Thanks anyway frank
my wife found another near new omg tank on Facebook so we got it and delivered for $20
just a quick question for this
i am getting new tubing, bulb and attachments at whitworths
do I take the old bayonet fitting on the tank that’s screwed in off to clean or get some acetone on a brush to clean it all up
(Presume auto vent is built in here)

Thanks
i will call into whitworths tomorrow

Hi all
i have a stupid question getting boat stuff checked against the NSW requirements
my savage ranger has marine ply panels on the floor of the boat ,screwed onto the ribs
it’s basically a false floordoes this mean I need a bildge pump?
i looked at the requirements for enclosed water and It said A bilge pump is needed if Boat has closed under floor compartments
I wasn’t sure if a false floor by definition is an under floor compartment
thanks in advancegreg

Thanks Noel
I will Let you know what happens
-
Thanks zoran
I also watched that dude from danger marine on you tube with old fuel lines
my son in-laws dad has a spare plastic one I can borrow so will do as you said take it for a run and see what happens

Hi zoran
this problem was first trip after full service
boat in water started ok
found a fishing spot, wife wanted to move 5 minutes later
motor wouldn’t start like it was starving of fuel continued fishing for an hour or so then tried to start it again All good trundled back to the boat ramp
motor was surging at about 3 knots in a low speed zone on way back
also leg was hot to touch when lifting and locking in place
took straight back to mechanic on way home
leg heat was thermostat issue all fixed fuel was tank wasn’t venting all painted overmechanic suggested cracking cap on tank when going on water - Wife not agreeable to this as well as me
looked at replacing tank 23 litre stainless steel - me yes wife noor fixing existing tank Compromise
I looked on my tank it is a model 6
looked on google and I think it must be an auto ventthe fuel line is also bent in a few circles from where it sat on top of tank
I presume the fuel line is old not being flexible and will replace this when my tank issue is sorted out

Hi Noel
The middle of the cap doesn’t seem to move or budge but is joined to the piece of metal on the underside of the cap in the picture a few photos up.
The whole tank was painted silver when I got the boat Including the cap and fuel hose connectionAnother query should the hose be rock hard that connects tank to engine or is that just age and if it vents when fuel line connection is on what would I look for ?

That would be great frank thanks

Aha
so short term I can leave cap half on and use tank ?

Hi all
i need a replacement tank
23 litre old metal one
the old oneFound a nice stainless one
but wife won’t spend $400 🤯
the old one only needs a new cap as the breather valve has been painted over and won’t relieve pressure
I don’t want a smaller tank as they are half the capacity and I like having more than lessI have heard that you can tighten the cap Halfway instead of full lock ,which would Let the fumes out but wife doesn’t like the idea of a loose cap
Any idea were I can get a used cap to fit the old tank
thanks

Hi
as this is a non fishing part
can I get opinions please on bonnet protectors
I have a pearl white 200 cruiser with a polished alloy bar
i want a bonnet protector to protect the paint
looking at tinted Protector as I think it may stop a bit of glare at night when driving or just go clear
both same price $89
i don’t want to paint the back of the bull bar as I like it as it is
thanksgreg

Thanks rebel
I can’t wait to try it out ,I value going to a tackle shop and supporting the small shop owner you get good advice and in turn help keep them open
and skipper
i would give my eye teeth to have my dad alive to fish with ,I still have he’s old rods and can visualise him fishing so I know where your coming from
-
Thanks
the tackle shop Dude was really amazed how much flex was in the rod when he checked it out
I am going to Port Macquarie in November so it’s going with me -
I bought a new reel today to go with my J/W Mundoo Rod
I found this rod in my Father in laws shed rafters Still in the J/W material cover
The tackle shop at Charlestown recommended this after looking at the rod
cant wait to try it out
I was eyeing the Alvey SR Series but at $95 I couldn’t pass this up
-
Thanks Ryder
I don’t think the mundoo has ever been used it was in the rafters covered in dust
i was tempted to replace the runners myself but I don’t want to stuff it up
my mate at Woy Woy is doing a 3 piece up for me but he doesn’t rush soi may not see the results for 6 months or more
I will drop you a message and get your mates namemy better half thinks I waist-to much but it would be a nice Christmas present to my self to get the blank back to new
-
Thanks kingie
I will check these threads

I pulled out the old 27 meg from the 1980,s as it was not working and had its day
i only go in Lake Macquarie and may venture in the channel out to moon island one day
what is better a vhf 25 watt unit to fit in the boat or just a neat little hand held 5 watt unit
the local boat store had a vast array
i liked the icom 25 and 35 They also had gme hand held And some nice fit in boat units
i will average about 2 times a month going out so figure hand held unit better
…wife does take her mobile as well (it’s part of her) But I like the idea of radio communicationany advice appreciated
thanksgreg
Using old fuel
in Boating
Posted
I have replaced the fuel in my tank when I had issues with my engine
see My previous post
I have fresh 98 and oil mix in the tank and have about 10 to 15 litres of pre mixed fuel in a jerry can About 6 to 8 months old at present
is it safe to use it in 5 litre blocks in between using new 98 mix
eg
over 6 months new 98 mix then 5 litre of old mix then new again or would you just tip it out ?
