  1. Hi DAVRICK, Alex Bellissimo is a great idea if you want a crash course in Rockfishing, highly recommended. He actually recommended Daiwa BG 5000, matches with Daiwa Seabass 110MH beach/rock rod 👍 Nice setup, and reasonable cost, can be used for bait or sending metals out. Just a note to take care at Clovelly if you fishing North side Shark point, really check swell, tides, wind and there are really only a few points you can actually safely fish off there If there is any swell, and as tide gets to the top the whole platform can be covered in water, even with relatively small swell, 1-1.5mtrs 👍 But that said solid spot for Luderick, drummer, grouper, silver trevally, bream and you can cast out metals for salmon, tailor, and the other pelagics. safe fishing
  2. Hi Jaymanner, Careel Bay is fun spot to fish super light for whiting, bream, flatties on the sand flats. You can also pump nippers down there 👍. Also as it warms up fun to kayak down there drift through the boats on the wharf side, see a few large Kingies prowling in the deeper water also. 👍
  3. Thought I would add to some winter rockfishing reports, had a great afternoons fishing down at Clovelly (Shark Point) Northern side on Friday. Swell super low, nearing bottom of the tide, wind blasting Westerly (which is ok as coming from behind + flattening the swell). Started bottom of the cliffs furtherest Northern side, with some other ISO fishos doing well on silver trevally. Its not often safe enough to fish across on that platform but cliffs provided great protection from the Westerly wind. Decided to try my luck without burley-ing up, baited up with some fresh green cabbage on medium sized sensitive float, 8lb leader, size 10 Gamakatsu green pan hooks, fishing about 1.5mts deep. First down after about 15 minutes missed it, but from then on pretty consistant fish for about hr, then cooled off for a bit. Moved back to the other side of the crack that separates cliff side to main platform, started to fish the wash out about 8-10 meters off to the left of the main open face, and picked up another 5. Pretty good conditions for a day after the bronze battlers, all released safely. Attached a few shots, when I could squeeze my phone out. WARNING: General service warning Clovelly (Shark Point) can be a particularly dangerous place to fish so please check you swell, wind, tides, cleats and lifejacket a must + legal requirement anyway. Safe Fishing
  4. Thanks @wazatherfisherman yes the 10lb was great for the bite, but did get well bricked by what I’m sure was a larger model 👍 next time
  5. Thought I would provide an update related to this stream, especially since everyone provided such great advice, especially @wazatherfisherman. My first few drummer today both on Cunje, both release safely as under size, slighly lighter tackle, straight 10lb mono, ball sinker to hook. Great fun thanks again, very much hooked on this style of fishing aim is to upsize for a feed next time. 👍
  6. Again thank you Waza fantastic insight, have to agree with Jenno64 fantastic content and looking forward to deploying these tactics. I feel this could almost be classed as an article, really well written and so clear, thanks for sharing 👍
  7. Waza, thank you comprehensive so much to try out. Appreciate the effort 👍
  8. Thanks Jiggy, yes make sense, great fun on the light stuff but pretty hard to slow them down.
  9. Brilliant thanks noelm, will let you know how I fare over next couple of weeks 👍
  10. Thanks noelm, do you salt the prawns to toughen up?
  11. First time member and first time post (Hope this is the right process, right place to ask). I’m mainly land based on the eastern suburbs Sydney, lucky to have family & Friends who live and boat around Pittwater, and past year have focused on Luderick, now looking to focus on Big brother the Rock Blackfish, I feel I owe them one with the amount of tackle they have taken over the past year! I have a question or 2 for those gun Drummer experts out there. The 1st question is on bait and fishing when there are pickers around. Tips to reduce the impact of pickers, and what selection of baits do you rotate between to avoid pickers 2nd is around technique to rigging up cabbage for drummer, does it always have to be under float? Do you pack more on as compared to if you targeted Luderick, and if you “Pussyfoot” with cabbage do you use weight? 3rd and final question is on cast direction and where you want to aim bait to be sitting in regards to the wash? thanks in advance and safe fishing 👍 AVR
