  1. Hey mate welcome. Fishing in Sydney's awesome, but occasionally it is tricky to find out what works and doesn't in different conditions. Just keep at it and you''l be in for a feed in no time don't worry. If i'm land-based i'll usually have a look at the satellite map the night before for good looking spots for your target species (rocky points, sand-flat drop-offs) and generally try to avoid highly fished areas like boat ramps. Good luck mate

    Hello Raiders,

I'm a beginner in fishing and I decided to give it a try I soon became addicted and I am always willing to learn. This site seems to have a lot of info. I love filleting fish and even more, eating them. I am only 14 and I am based in Botany bay. I'm hoping to learn more about catching big fish in my area.

    Thanks in advance, TE

  3. I remember finding a NSW government website a few months ago while I was thinking about the same thing. It had the percentage survival from release rates for each fish species. I can't find it but its worth a look.

  4. Have a sinker running to swivel and about 1.5m leader. Depends what depth you want your bait at and troll speed, but I usually try to keep it mid-water so a bean sinker the size of your pinkie usually works. Good luck.

  5. Well done mate even though jackets are a pest they make a mad feed. They've been going pretty nuts in the harbour as well lately, even caught one that was either a deformed or had half its body bitten off but survived.IMG_0150.jpg.44ce01ab87698328cd258639ba8afaa8.jpg
