  1. I had found those photos in my search, and yes I had noticed it was different, but unless I remember wrong, it was also listed as a 1978. Thank you
  2. Ok thank you Noel, it is supposed to be a 1978 originally.
  3. Yes, I understand it has definitely been changed, I was more wanting to know to get an idea whether is was a good hull, and even just to know what hull it actually is.
  4. Thank you Noel, I couldn't find anything on 5.8m (19ft) pongrass boats, were they any good?. And the motor might be the angle, I believe it is a XL motor on a XL transom. I'll ad some more photos.
  5. Hi to everyone, hoping to receive some info regarding this boat, owner has said it was originally a pongrass half cabin, but doesn't know anymore then that, any info would be appreciated, thank you.
  6. Thank you Dunc I will make sure to check them. We spoke to the current owner and the Isuzu motor only has a little over 800hrs on it and he said the hull is fully glass so no timber stringers to worry about. The man they had antifoul it said the hull was in great condition. The current owner is 83 and getting rid of it as he's just getting too old and has really been good to deal with and kind enough to take a deposit while we organise the rest. I know it might not win any races but the Mustang we have is quick and all it really causes is the kids to get thrown around and have to sit up in the cab not really enjoying themselves. I'm kind of looking forward to just slowly putting out trolling the whole way slow enough they can walk around and enjoy it. Thank you once again for your input and what you were aiming at I really appreciate it. And thank you to everyone for there advice. I'll make sure to do my best to avoid bad weather and rough seas the rest I guess I'll leave in God's hands. Thank you Damon.
  7. Thank very much Dunc for that I will update once we get it here could be a couple months. But I really appreciate your reply. It already has a swim board for the back not shown in photo. And I'm assuming the sea cock is where it picks up water is this correct as I said never had a inboard before. Thank you Damon.
  8. Thank you Dunc for your reply. Here are some pics of the inside
  9. Yes I have put a deposit down but all your input is still helpful to decide where to go and how to handle it from here. Thank you Damon.
  10. This is the pride we did own it was around 5.7m I think and was full glass boat except transom had timber and was we wet. It carried a lot of fuel maybe above 250l. The reason I'm posting is we towed this ok but I wouldn't want to go a lot heavier a bit but not a lot. By the way once again I just want to thank you all for taking your time to post and reply I really appreciate it. Damon.
  11. Thank you Noel. Can you explain a little more what you mean by completely different as I have only ever owned outboard boats before. Just so I know what to expect thank you. Damon.
  12. Hi Zoran thank you again Just so I am clear on this I believe you are right and would never take this boat threw a bar crossing or 3m breaking waves. I'm not saying it cant happen but I've not seen nor heard such conditions up here within the shelter of the reef. So I do 100% agree there and would not attempt what you have experienced in this boat. But not saying a more power would not still be desirable. Thank you Damon.
  13. Well that indeed is a problem if your right. The Prado has a 2.5t towing capacity so anything above that I'm not really interested in towing. In his photos he appears to be towing it with a Mitsubishi Pajero which would be of similar weight and hp but I guess that doesn't mean much. How much do you think it would weigh Noelm. And anyone else reading this with a similar size boat that knows there wieght would be great thank you. Damon
  14. I understand no one is out there just to scare me off I really do appreciate all the advice. As Zoran said I have already put a deposit on the boat but understanding what I'm in for and how much it is worth and possible problems is something I need too know. I am taking in everything everyone has said and thinking on it. As far as work on the boat I can definitely do all the fibreglass work myself having some experience and and I can definitely do all the engine work myself. But when it comes to the inboard side of things like shaft and prop and any associated bearings and gear boxes I've never had anything to do with them. As I said I do really appreciate all your input. Thank you Damon.
  15. Thank you Noelm This is some really practical advice I need to hear and understand. Please allow me to tell you how I was planning on using the boat. The boat will be on a trailer. I am planning on storing the boat close to the boat ramp and towing it with our turbo diesel Toyota Prado. The current owner tells me the boat is 2t on the trailer. We have a very nice facilities/ ramp at mourilyan harbour and I would float the boat of beside the padded dock and back on. Thank you again. Damon.
  16. Thank you Noelm for your input. I understand why you say it could drive me mad but why do you say slowly send me broke ( is it the expense if I start repowering and upgrading stuff or something else). Thank you Damon.
  17. As much as that is a really nice boat it wasn't what I expected to be called a pocket game boat. I was thinking something around 5m or less but maybe that just shows my lack of knowledge regarding it all. Thank you Damon.
  18. Thank you Zoran for all your advice and input. Damon.
  19. Thank you JonD I understand what you are saying I guess the trip out doesn't bother me much as there is good trolling to be had almost the whole way and usually we only fish for a hour or two on a spot at a reef and most the best fish seem to come up in that first session then we usually move on. I don't want something foolishly unsafe at all but taking my time to get there is ok. Thankfully we don't have any bar crossing up here in FNQ and I guess it's more chop then swell but it can still get unfavorable at times. At the moment we have a little Mustang 1500 and it's a good little boat but a bit small with all of us and a bit rough on the kids coming back in rough conditions as there only young. We use to have a pride Montego which was around 5.5m - 5.7m and it handled great but the transom was wet and with a 130b Yamaha on it the fuel consumption was very high about 1l to 1km. From what I can see the down side to slow speeds up here for us is gonna be not being able to out run bad weather. Thank you Damon
  20. Thank you for your advice and input I appreciate what you have said and definitely see what you are saying. I was and still am very happy for the boat the way it is but I do want to make sure it is capable to do the job. But you are right I don't want nor can afford large cost all all the time. Out of interest what is your Pocket game boat.
  21. Hi Rick did you see my previous reply where I quoted you. Are you able to remember what style of the two your bluefin was. Thank you Damon.
  22. Ok thank you Zoran. I believe my approach may just be a larger diesel engine in the future to achieve that extra speed when needed. Thank you for your advice. Damon.
  23. Ok thank you Zoran so maybe it's not a semi-displacment hull then. Would that setup effect planning at all. Thank you Damon
  24. Hi Rick Thank you for your reply. Off the top of your head did yours have the high raised Chines sweep up at the bow or were they flatter joining down lower on the bow. As most the bluefins I see have that flatter chine line and these seem to be the ones with outboard or stern drive. They also have no keel like this one does if you look closely in the photo is has a little keel and the prop sits behind that. This is what lead me to believe it is a semi-displacment. I'm very interested in what you have to say seeing you have owned one before. Thank you Damon.
