Thanks for the reply bluecod, there are no coresponding cracks i can see and the glass fibres seem undamaged, after a day on the water i am getting less than a cupfull of water from the bungs.
the bigest chunk missing is only 4 mm wide would you still use that method?
how good are the gelcoat fillers on these smaller areas?

Just got back from our o/nighter on mort bay, only one word to describe the night.
FANTASTIC!!!!
all up there were maybe 8 - 10 boats there, thousands of people on the foreshore and it was dead calm.
my daughter was the photographer for the night and she took some great pics (will post some later).
will definately do it again this year.

We are going to brave it, we will be in mort bay hopefully early enough to get a spot.
the only thing i can think of is to make sure you have 2 anchors out (bow and stern) and if possible find someone to raft up with for some added stability.
I was at Bias boating this morning and they wished us luck
they said everyone should do it once but not many go back for a second time unless they are in a real big boat.

yep got a few in my tackle box, been meaning to try them out but then laziness overcomes me and i sit back down with the
what weight heads do you use with them over there? and do you flick/lift or just retrieve??

the lizards were on single hawksbury prawn and the whiting was on a full bottle squid on 3 gang hook........go figure!!

Got 2 new fishing outfits from santa so headed out to try them out.
did some very slow drifts along the edge of the weed wide of Towra and broke in both rods wit a 31cm whiting and a 55cm flathead.
Also got quite a few small octopus to the side of the boat but only 1 hit the deck.
went up to silver beach for a spot of lunch and met some friends down there on holidays. when the wind picked up we decided to call it a day happy to have a fish dinner in the bag.
great day out with a happy ending

Yep lesson learned
funny thing is that i was more upset at losing the fish than the rod

could anyone finding a matched pen 6' with egg beater reel, probobly attached to a big assed kingie or similar please let me know.
it was stolen about 80 meters west of the 3rd runway when the owner was silly enough to leave the drag set to strike and left the rod in a holder unsecured.
anyone else done this or am i on my lonesome here?

A bit of a shocking experience touching a numb fish , there seems to be quite a few in the bay I get one about every second trip.
touching one? i tried to belly lift it into the boat! felt like i grabbed a 240 volt wire.
i was just reading about them, apparently they can deliver a big enough shock to cause temporary paralysis!!

Drifted off Brighton for uncountable small brim and 2 just over legal (all released) then ran up to the cans and drifted back towards the bridge for more small brim and 1 decent lizard ( lost at the net ).
Boated a 2KG numbfish (of course i have never caught one before and didnt know what it was until i tried to pick it up ).
Got taken for a big run on a whole squid on gang hooks and played for about 5 minutes before the line snapped didnt get to see any coulor so no idea what it was, but i'll be telling my mates it was a 3 foot lizard
Ran over to the runways when the wind picked up and got you guessed it more small brim and lizards.
got home with a wet arse, no fish, and a nice red glow. But any day on the water is better than a day at work.
