  1. Thompson Creak Damn, Saturday 19th of August This one was the second trip to the TCD on this winter season, and hopes were high, could this be the Day when he the curse will be finally broken. Several trips on the past, but nothing landed, on the other hand several fish has been seen, but nothing inside the net. Maybe today… There were 3 friends arriving on 6.30am, just before the sunrise and weather was extremely windy, almost stormy. Temperature reaching +3, but luckily not going on to the minus side even on the Blackheat temperature pointing close to the 0 C. Strong wind from southwest directs our rods to the western side of the Damn. But because of the wind, positions to offer the fly’s ware limited. Finally, after few hours fishing, we reached to the deeper water, and saw several fish swimming close to the shoreline. Friend tries to offer different lures, but not succeed to catch any interest of these fish. Finally, it was my turn. Landing to the water line using dark green nymphing with the extremely slow movement to the fly and soon first action happened. Beautiful Rainbow was landed, and the curse was gone. Try the several different patterns until change to the white larva. First hit was hard, the rainbow pulls the line back and forth, jump several times, but unfortunately, it dives under to the big log and managed to damage the tippet. Just one more jump and it was gone. So much fun Next hit came 15 - 30 minutes later, this was not the same size than previous one, but fight was fun, and excitement was on the roof. Managed to land +50cm beautiful fish inside the net, this was putting smile on the face. Again, white larva was on the action. Day was going to the end and reaching close to the Damn wall even make it better. Change fly’s to the lures and gave Tasmanian devil a change. After for a while, lures were stuck on the bottom, as I was thinking… Trying to pull lures out of the bottom for a several minutes, break quite tight of course, but no succeeded release the devil. Suddenly, line start to move, and like nowhere massive trout rise to the surface, showing the full body on the air. This beast just shakes his head few times, as just wishing to have a safe trip to Sydney, and after the landing and diving to the deep water, it was gone. I Just look empty line for a while, maybe few rude words ware on the air, but still, what a moment. The Day was better than even on my wildest dream, I manage landed 2 fish and the Damn gave possibility to hold the monsters it is hiding, which unfortunately get away (this time). Friend also catch1 and lost the other. Well, something has to be left to the next time. What a day … 😊
  2. Thank's for aprovement to the group. Few months ago we our family moved to Australia. Now was the excelent time to test, if some local trouts would accepts fly's what I make. All the information what I have received from fishing location, streams, and rules was very helpful, to make my first trip so enjoyable. Even, 30 years experience of fly fishing, it was so exciting to head to a new river and see the trout rising on your dry fly, what a day... Big thanks Jari
