  1. Hi Eddy, I have only been to Glenbawn once, but I would imagine that 6lb braid and 8 pound flourocarbon leader would be a good starting point. Good Luck, The Poacher
  2. Both those spots you can easily fish from the shore. There are stacks of squid up here, but its not as good as JB so you might have to work harder. The Poacher
  3. Thanks! Love fish raider, where else could u get unbiased advice like that
  4. Hi, Can you see any issues with attaching a minn kota to the back of an E Tec. Its hard to explain unless you see the pic, but there is a guy who has done it to a 130hp e tec. Looks like the electric was purpose made. Engine 130.pdf The Poacher
  5. Hi Whaler, If only I could get one here for those $. By the time you go through the rigmarole to buy a boat you have never seen. I would rather eyeball one here first, or save my $ and buy one off Josh new. The Poacher
  6. Hi whaler, Have looked at bay style boats, but I am offshore 70% of the time. Would love an edgewater but there are none second hand and new they are too much for me, Thanks The poacher
  7. Hi Raiders, Am looking at 6 meter centre consoles. Trophys, pioneers, edgewater, pro line etc are all fantastic and are all quite similar. I have only seen pictures of the Tournament 1900 but it seems to have the deeper cockpit all the way to the bow. Has anyone fished in one if these as well as an imported boat. if so can you let me know your thoughts. I fish mainly offshore, but only 2-3 kms out, but I also lure fish inside a lot. Any help appreciated as I need to make a decision. Cheers The Poacher
  8. Those things love squid. I never catch them on live yakkas, but I have any form of squid, there is always a chance Cheers, The Poacher
  9. Would be great fun from the bank! Have fished that area myself - more towards Denman - admittedly, it was 20 years ago !!!
  10. Hi Raiders, I am looking at all sorts of Centre Consoles at the moment. There are a few 2nd hand imports around that look like reasonable value. So if anyone has been on a Sea Hunt 188, I would love to hear from you. I would be fishing mostly offshore, but want to lure fish the rivers and estuaries around Sydney as well. If the weather looked rough I would probably fish on a mates boat that has a cabin, Cheers, The Poacher
  11. Unfortunately thats fishing Roostaman. Some days are diamonds... Best of luck next time. Generally, the trolling you were doing is more consistent from January through to May in my opinion (am sure some guys will disagree). Cheers, The Poacher.
  12. Nice work Croydon - thats a big lizard, - 1770 is a lovely place too. The Poacher
  13. CapNMac - I dont fish it much, but I believe its on the south east corner. Thats also where the bait holds. The Hammers seems to like the Hawkesbury, and the area you are fishing seems to hold different fish at different times, so it pays to move about and try diff things, CHeers, The Poacher
  14. Great fish Dom - you deserve it
  15. Hey Damain, I was at SWR this last week and got a few spotties as well. However, no one in SWR had seen slimies for weeks - can I ask where you were catching them? I would have been way more confident if I had them - we got all our fish on pillies THe Poacher
  16. Good Work SMn, I have fished Wamby for 10 years, and caught my first trevally there a month ago. Given its still 23 degrees (last time I checked anyway) I am wondering why they are there. Anyway, not complaining as they are great fish. Cheers The Poacher
  17. Well done, you are on fire. That's why I love SWR, you miss the Spanish, but your consolation is a COBE!
  18. Billseeker - i have two weeks before I am there - lets hope they are still around then. 20kg fish looks massive int he photo! Congrats. Any spotties there - or are you fishing different locations. The Poacher
  19. I think that advice re 30lb leader was sound. Tie your outfit off to the clothes line and try and break 30lb leader through the rod as if you were fishing - for a start you have to low stick it or you will snap the rod, and even then, you will be amazed how tough it is. In Pittwater, 30lb flourocarbon is def the go. Good luck, The Poacher
  20. Awesome effort - well done for thinking BIG. Solid tackle and large baits etc'
  21. Flathead - there were 4 pro's line fishing next to us. They were all chasing bonnies too. Some with lures, some on bait. Stiffy - we were off the Entrance We honestly thought it was a king, Its great to feel like there are a few good fish around. Cheers The Poacher
  22. Like most raiders, I had been restricted to dreaming about fish during the poor weather. So, with a good forecast, it was just me and 400 other fishos at the ramp at 5.30. Got in the water and picked up some good yakkas quickly, then out to the inshore reefs. Had the joint to ourselves for a while, but then other boats showed up. It was quiet for the first half hour but there was lots of bait around and we were confident. Anyway, took a hit out of nowhere and was onto a good fish, I was calling it for a 90cm plus king, and I had turned its head and had it headed in the right direction when the hook pulled. After that, Lento was hit and it was a 67cm king - so OK, its better than nothing. THen 5 min later he got hit, we thought here-we-go a better king, but no, after 10 minutes of solid fight up comes the fatest bonito I have ever seen - it went near on 80 cm, but prob 78 technically. Got a few more and headed for home, very pleased. Get out there Raiders! The Poacher
