  1. Congratulations boys.......pitty about the weather but at least you were smiling home....... id say you were bitten off by a mako or some kind of shark....
  2. G'day all, Sorry for the late report but thought i might post it anyway. Headed out from Tom Uglies on saturday morning arriving at 5.30am. We headed straight out to fish farm to try score some livies but we were struggling. 6.30 decided to give it one last go at Yarra Bay and we found them...... Scored about a dozen yellow tail and headed straight out as it was getting late....didnt want to miss the morning feed...... First 5km off the head land was very sloppy at least 2m swell with a 1m chop......decided to keep going and it got better the further we went...... Arrived at sydney wide fad at about 7.30 and saw dollies nibbling at our outboard....grabbed the fist rod i found with 12 pount mono and threw a livie on...hardly hit the water and got smashed, busted me straight up...didnt throw another one in on that gear.... Livies went within 5 min and we had at least 10 dollies on board between 65 and 90cm enough for us but loved the action.. We threw pillies at them for the next hour and we must of released at least 50 between the three of us...great fun but decided to move on.... Trawled out to 12 mile for a dozen or so big strippies ranging between 5 and 10 kg and turned for home scoring more strippies and a couple of bonito trawling over the peak... Great day and plenty of fish...........
  3. Great catch, cant complain about the 2 1/2 hour drive. Which island were you at if you dont mind me asking and at what depth?????? Well done
  4. raiders, dont be fooled into thinking the season is over because the season is only just begining. despite poor weather the water has also been too cold for fin. current reports of 20 degrees of water is good, just hope the current stays for a few weeks so we can get out a couple of times. this time last year we hooked yellowfin and dolphin fish is the same session in 20 degrees of water. hope to see you all out there ill be heading out on saturday, so far the forecast is good but never know. cheers
  5. 14, 15, 16th march.....next week buddy
  6. G'day all, just wondering if anyone is heading up to Port Stephens for the trailer boat comp. Have fished port stephens my whole life but never gone out wide for dollies or marlin. I just purchased a tagging pole and all the gear so i am wondering if anyone could tell me where i could get tags from and maybe some GPS locations and tips for marlin in the area.... cheers
  7. G'day raiders, Just a quick report. Headed out to browns this morning despite the wind blowing a 15 knot NE. Trawled from the shelf to browns for zip and decided to cube. Our drift was 2km/h on average so not too bad. We started off NE of browns and found a school just south of browns. Pulled hooks on a large fin but landed a 35kg. Birds became very anoying taking 3 or so owner hooks not happy so we left. Cant complain it was good to be out. Sorry no pics camera shit itself.
  8. yeah Broughton Island is a top spot.....reds available all year..... did you fish the shallow gravel beds north west of the sisters???? well done on the nice catch
  9. could anyone tell me if the humps is still fishing well for snapper or is the season over??????
  10. we were in one of the haines...were u in the black shark cat????????
  11. Hi raiders, despite reports of 30 knot westerly's we did the run out to browns in 40 min flat and arrived at about 8.00..... by 9.00 am we hooked up and landed a 29kg yellow fin after a 30 min wrestle on 15kg gear. Conditions werent ideal but cubing seemed to work....Meanwhile Jay Kay sees the other 15kg outfit go off and within 5 min we had a beautiful mahi mahi at the boat (approx 15kg).......Steve took several swipes at this lightning fast fish with the gaff but only managed to skin him and drop him.......oh well..... are these fish supposed to be around this time of year.......we were in about 19.2 degrees of water......????? anyway fished until 11.00 with no more luck other than a 1.5 kg stripie so we made the 2 hour trip home against a 20knot westerly..... So far this season weve been out 4 times.......only come back with nothing once......total 5 yellow fin between 10 and 29kg 2 blue fin and a little stripie.......so got to be happy with that.... will post pics soon....... Cheers
  12. g'day, will be heading out tomorrow morning woth JayKay aboard achilles.......im guessing 20/30 knot winds will not be around as the wind has died off completely on the coast.....a light westerly will be good...... if we cant get wide we might do some jigging at the peak or 12 mile..... good luck for the weekend raiders
  13. hi, havent really cooked tuna often and it has never really tasted the best.........this time we bled the fish and got some good steaks and put them on the barbeque and brushed some lemon and herbs and it was awesome......cant wait to get some more.........
  14. G'day all, Saturday 16th at Browns finally paid off. My brother and I left Tom Uglies at 6.00am on Saturday and headed straight for our spot just wide and south of Browns. Got out there to find another 10 or so boats so we cruised around and found 19.5 degrees of water blue as the sky. Not much sign of life until cubing started and we attracted plenty of birds. Current and wind was perfect and got a nice trail going for about 1 hour when at approx 9am one of our 50W got hit and lines cut.....what the??? Within 10 min 2 rods have gone off with a double hook up. One line straight down and the other almost horizontal.. I could tell I was on to a fin but my brother wasnt so sure...about 20m away a Mako surfaced and began its arial assault....what a site...24kg line didnt last so he quickly re-rigged and had his line back in the water...while still fighting my fish which gave me a good work out we had 2 fin on.....landed both 1 @20kg and the other at 15kg.....still cubing we could see plenty of fish just below the surface. Lines back in and again double hook up...got 4 fin on board between 10 and 20kg so it was enough for us so packed up at 11am and headed home at 4200 rpm in beautiful conditions...what a day.....just want to mention some idiot kept trolling in our berley trail about 50m at the back of our boat in a 625 cruise craft with no luck.......he saw us hook up and also started cubing right next to us but by that stage the fish were gone.....
  15. hey ross, weather forecast is predicting 2m plus seas........what do you mean by good conditions????? we are hoping to get out wide this weekend, hopefully to browns.........hope the fin are on...... probably see u out there.... good luck.......
  16. hey mate, we are thinking of going out but we dont like this strong wind warning....... probably decide late tonight early morning
