    Flooring

Guys, Thanks for all the good advice. Looks like ill be going with ply over checker plate. I have also decided to use this product to coat the ply, hopefully gives me a satisfactory outcome http://www.phoenixpaints.com.au/m_04_06.html Thanks again and hope to see you on the water

    Flooring

Guys, I have a 4.5m front steer savage that is due for a bit of TLC, its my 1st boat so i dont have a whole lot of experience. The carpeted ply floor has started to rot to the point that in some places the carpet is the only thing left. What are my options for replacing the ply? Should i go for Ply again and should i use Marine or general CD grade ply, does the ply need to be painted/ sealed? Other than ply is there any other options, maybe aluminium checker plate? Over the base i was thinking of rubber matting of some type as carpet is a pain for cleaning (squid ink, blood, sand etc), any thoughts? Also, i wanted to create some under floor storage between the stiffeners. Can i remove some or all of the foam in those areas, what is the foam for anyway? Hope you can offer some advice.
  4. Hi all, Just after some quick advice. I was hoping to get out to Botany this Sat but have noted that the swell is expected to be 2.5m and wind 15 knots. Will these conditions make the bay uncomfortable, if so will all the Bay be affected - I have limited experience there. I have a 4.5m aluminium and wanted to get out for sunrise and fish until midday. Thanks
  5. Boat 4.5m 50hp - Not planning on heading too far out Calm seas and sun - Best make the most of the last couple weeks of summer

    Bellambi

Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone has fished the Bellambi area recently. We are heading down this Sunday (1.5 hour drive) and wanted to get an idea of the conditions - both fishing and seas. I fished there a few years ago and it was well worth the trip. Your thoughts will be much appreciated
  7. Yeah thanks for that, been keeping an eye on seabreeze and seen the perfect day turn into a perfect half day. Probably wont be venturing out past the heads due to the forcast, would like to make the most of the morning inside the bay. Thanks again
  8. Hey Guys, A mate and i are planning a day on the bay this weekend. It will be our first trip out this side of winter, so understandably we are pretty keen. Fingers crossed at this stage that the weather conditions are suitable we are hoping to get out through the heads and explore the grounds. Having not ventured out there before i was wondering if i could get some advice on close in reefs or drifting areas. Obviously i am not hitting anyone up for their secret spot but GPS co ordinates for well know areas to get us started would be greatly appreciated. I have a 4.5m Savage aluminium so we wont want to be venturing too far out. Any advice really will be greatly appreciated.
  9. Ha, Northsider. You are a funny man i do recall you were the one who insisted that i use a swivel. Must be all that salt spray has damaged your short term memory.
  10. Thanks guys for your advice. Now one further question would i use a swivel to joing the fluro to the braid or use say a blood knot. Ta
  11. Hi all, I have just purchased some switchblade lures for a fishing/camping weekend on the Hawkesbury, however i am unable to find any info on how to rig these. My rod is spooled with braid, do i need a mono leader, will i need a swivel etc All advice is greatly appreciated.
  12. Hey Guys, I am planning an over night boating trip on the harbour this Sat night with a mate. Basically we will be on the water by about 6pm sat through to about 10am sun. Clifton Gardens is the planned anchorage point for sleeping hours but need some advice on night time fishing spots. Obviously we will be taking advantage of some squidding around the spit however would appreciate some other ideas. Also does anyone know if there are any accessable toilets on the harbour, i am not sure if the toilet block at clifon is locked at night. Thanks
  13. After months of searching a finally found and purchased a boat - 4.5m Savage aluminium with a 50hp on the back. The hard part is now finding the fish. Would anyone be able to suggest some accessable fishing grounds either in port hacking, botany or sydney harbour. Dependant on the weather i dont mind heading our past the heads (boat has all the appropriate gear and radio) as long as its not too far for a beginer. All help is very much appreciated. BTW no fish finder at the moment Thanks
  14. Hi Guys, I am heading up to Seal Rocks for the Apec Long Weekend 7th Sept for some RR. I havent visited this area before and as usual am keen to get my line wet. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with this area and can offer some advice for land based fishing. Also are there any local charters operating, it could be a good oportunity to get into something decent. Thanks
