  1. Hi Nickf,

Two raiders fish the rivers up here a lot, probably the best spot

would be the start of warrell creek, just over the other side from golf course, anyway click

on members on this site and type in bloopin,or poddy trapper, they fish inside

all the time. anytime you need to ask just PM me.

    cheers Rick.

  2. I would recommend the sunbeam too. Just make sure the extra bags you buy afterwards are compatible with the machine. It should say on the packet. I bought some cheapies on the net but they didn't seal.

    Damn cunning idea rick!

    Cheers

    G/day Humesy

Yeah mate it works fine, just take a few out, reseal

bag and pop in cool place, baits good all day.

    regards Rick.

  3. Mate i went through the same ordeal, and yep the battery strength plays a big part for start up on the older motors,i had tryed to start on rather flat battery would turn fly wheel but would not fire, then recharged battery and boom, away she went,i was evn advised dont know how true it is but the volt difference you put out with a semi flat battery can also damage your stator+coils or power pack dont know how true but better safe then sorry, good luck buddy,

Hey Coasty you just reminded me back in 80's we use to do power pack all the time, was pretty dear, until we got a queensland bloke that could repair and re seal them.

    Regards Rick.

  4. Hi Morgs,

Mate the best sealer you can get,is the

one you make yourself.I have been using this method for

years. Get a plastic drinks bottle, cut about three inches

off the top, take cap off,get your bag of bait or whatever,

push up through neck of bottle, turn over the edge of bag

and screw on top.Lasts for yonks.

    Cheers Rick.

  5. Well done Rex,I know how you feel same

thing happened to my young bloke with his arm.

But like you he won't give up and says Dad

I have the bloody wood on them, when they ask

    how big was the fish.

    Cheers Mate and enjoy .

    Regards Rick.

  6. There is no way you can stop them, even putting a sinker on

won't stop them getting the bait.

when we where fishing for a living, they were in plague proportions.Mongrels come all the way from siberia

"mutton birds".they will dive down out of sight to get bait, the only way we could stop them

    was with a oar.

hook one of the things and they cried like a baby.

  7. Hi Groper,

You did the right thing mate, that is a lurk they have used for years

down there ,having their trailer around on the next ramp, believe it or not

a hell of a lot lost their trailers with that method.

Times you have to be hard, as Jeff said that area they would have to unload onto

tyres in the street ,not likely.

    Cheers Rick.

  8. The generation today have certainly mellowed.

Anybody cast our gear aside,we would have put it right

    straight away.

when we walked away the idiot would have had his top

teeth sticking out through his lips.

Touching or removing another blokes gear is taboo.

  9. Hi folks,

Got up at 3am this morning and went to my favourite fishing spot in south Sydney.

Was just before 4am, and another 5 minutes later another couple arrived. I was surprised how keen anglers are these days :)

OK, geared up the 12 footer with pilly and float, and off they went to the water.

At the same time I was casting  .

Another half an hour later another guy arrived, then started casting with a chromie.

On second cast he hooked a kingfish, he was swearing and cursing at other aglers and their rods while fighting his fish :ranting2: .

OK, fair enough... a dude was casting while he was fighting his fish. But, was it necessary to curse and swear??

Took him a few minutes to land his kingfish and everyone congratulated him.. the person he swore at didn't have hard feeling.... Good!

Another couple turned up at the spot soon. One of them walked to the rock edge and yelled "whose rod is this?", I said it was mine.

He then replied "no fix rod here!!", I told him that I would remove it to make some room for him after retrieving my

last cast. Without asking for permission, he then removed my rod from the rock hole and chucked it on the ground. I hope he didn't scratch my new Shimano baitrunner.

I was so pissed, but I wasn't getting aggresive. I then asked him when did the rule of having no fixed rod start? He didn't answer.

I would not mind removing my 12 footer to make room. At the end of the day, I knew what it feels like getting up early and

sneaking out to have some fun with fishing, but having no room to fish at the spot.

I have been fishing at the same spot for almost 10 years, and so far so happy. I met other anglers who became good

mates and we fish together, share tips and have drinks in the pub after fishing. I hope this rude person did not have any discriminative motive

over his ack. I have never met this couple at the spot before. I was thinking to myself at that time, was it worth an argument or even a fight? I then threw a few more casts, but I couldn't enjoy my fishing further after the incident. I packed up and went home. :1badmood:

I feel sorry for people who have been or would be this guy's abuse victims.

I hope through this, we can learn how to share the fun of fishing. Even on a tight spot (good spot is never big enough).

Sorry guys, I had to vent my spleen here.. :05:

    Keep the lines tight fellas!

Well all I can say is your more forgiving than I would have been.

  10. Without knowing what sort of steering system you have

    makes it a bit difficult.

If you have hydralic, all you have to do is lift plug off at

back of steering wheel and top up well.then she will be fine.

  11. Gents,

    I have a 90 mercury saltwater series 2stroke 2003

After been busy for 3 weeks, i finally decided to give my boat a start up and let it run for a good 15mins to clear out any cob webs ready for summer.

Starting the engine was easy, and it rumbled as it always does. I let it idle for a good 10 minutes to let it warm up.

Then i decided to lift the lever to give it more throttle for zip and the max i got to was 1500rpm.

Then i gove it some forward motion, prop began to spin, but again no more than 1500rpm.

Now i am hoping it is some from the forwad control box.

Any one had this issue, and is sit an easy fix?

Or am i looking at a new forward control box??

Your help would be great. Any theings i can try to see if i can get it going again?

    Hi Stacer560, I have the 2003 90 merc.

after you check all connections and linkages,if it still does not rev out

give huey a ring.when you lift throttle lever you should red line it.

    Cheers Rick.

  12. Hi does anybody take a 4mtr boat outside fishing in good conditions and how far out do you venture . I have a 3.95m allycraft vision. What do you think of taking it out in 1mtr swell. tightlines Stephen

    Hi Rexy,

What wannabe just told you is spot on.

Take notice of that and you won't get into trouble.

I know you have a boat and itching to get out.

But antyhing under 5mtr and you only asking for trouble

    it's just not worth it..

  13. Hi Spanker,

There are lots of bigger fish caught, mostly us older blokes,

we are only fishing because we love the sport and a good feed, records don't worry us

we have got nothing to prove,we have caught fish the size you will

    never see again.

Enjoy the sight and your fishing .

    regards Rick.
