  1. Nice one, cheers guys. When I went out I have a feeling my lead wasn't heavy enough beacuse it was drifting quite a far bit OR is that what I need (a little drifting/movement)? Cheers heaps for all your responses.. keen to go out again soon!
  2. Hey SMn, Thanks for the post. Yeah ended up going on a perla of a day, weather-wise. Got down there at about 6am with the sun just rising on a low tide which I'm not sure if it was the best time as we didn't get any bites but still had a ball! First cast was suprisingly good BUT the my second cast wasn't so good It does take some time in getting the hang of holding the line whilst casting a 4 metre long rod without the line coming out on you but I think in the end I was making the rod do the work more than me force the rod, just so I could get the technique right. Fishing for say tailor, flatty, bream on the beach - would you say on the run out is best?
  3. Nice tip, thanks for that! Just went and bought me some tackle so I can head out next Saturday morning. Thanks all!
  4. Thanks heaps for the info.. I will try these two rigs out and see how they go and report back.
  5. Hi Fishingphase, Thanks for the quick reply.. The size of the rod is just under 4 Metres long with a light surf alvey 7kg capacity reel. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers
  6. Hey all, Been a while since I have been on here, hope all is catching heaps of fish! I have just been handed down a beach rod with a side caster which I am little bit hesitant on using (due to lack of experience) but know I will get the hang of it after a few fishing trips. I am usually keen on deep sea and estuary but am a bit of a novice when it comes to beach fishing - Does anyone have any tips on general tackle, tides/moon and bait? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
  7. Hey Noel, I am usually an estuary fisherman and have some experience with deep sea but recently have been passed down a nice beach rod from my old man and am keen to give beach fishing a go. Can go on the weekends and up for any location on the Central Coast. Let me know if your keen to go and we can tee up a time/place. Jim
  8. I'm near Green Pointish. It would be greato to get a crew out searching for some lizards.. Let us know when your heading out next & where & I might tag along..
  9. Thanks for the warm welcome guys... don't worry I will take the mickey out of myself Just rigging up now, so I best be off to catch me some dinner - if not my girlfriend isn't going to be too happy.. oh well you get that on big jobs! Gone fishin!
  10. Typical Chinese style sweet and sour fish usually just dips the fish in cornstarch with a little bit of seasoning, then deep fry them, then throwing them with sweet and sour sauce & stir fried vege's. Fish It's better to use fish with firm white meat like flathead. Slice fish into strips and wipe them dry with cloth beforehand. Basic Batter 2 cups flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon curry powder pinch of paprika and pepper one can of beer (substitute soda water for halal version) Basically you mix the dry ingredients first, then you pour in your one can of beer and you will get a nice batter. Let it rest for 15 minutes but not more than one hour. Take your fish strips and dip them lightly in cornstarch, don't coat too much here, shake off excess cornstarch. After that, dip them into the batter, coat nicely. Then deep fry on 350 degrees farenheit, slowly slide the fish down, don't drop them down too fast and don't crowd your pot. Deep fry in batches until golden brown. For them to stay crispy while preparing sauce, keep them in a slightly warm oven.
  11. Hey all, I am going to be fishing at a great spot near Davistown rsl (Central Coast), just going for a quiet fish with my old man & bro, which should be some fun - We will be targetting some bream & hopefully spot a few lizards. Have a great wkend all & tight lines! P.S I'm betting on Manly to beat the Storm by 8! Go the Eagles!!
  12. Hello fellow Fishraiders, My mate me about this forum & was informed that is a very resourceful & topical site. I am from Sydney & have just moved to the Central Coast and am loving every second of it. Why I am I here you ask.. well, I LOVE fishing! It's my favourite past time & I must say I don't mind to thrown one on the bbq either, every now & then depending on the catch. I don't know if I will be able to contribute that much but I may be able to throw some fishing stories out there & show off some pictures of my 'catch of the day'. I look forward to chatting with you all & getting to know you a little better over the next couple of years & look forward to learning a little too! Speak soon all!
