  1. Thanks penguin . You must have got your fish bottom of the tide . We tried the oil wharf early , top of the tide for no result. I should have slept in and also had a liesurely afternoon fish as well . regards Bill
  2. up at dawn and headed out from the St George Motor Boat club looking for the expected run of Bream ( Can someone please tell the bream that they are supposed to here now for the summer spawning) - tried all the spots and only managed 3 whiting (caught on peeled prawn) - what was most surprising that we weren't even annoyed by the usual hungry hordes of small snapper - Water was fairly cold and a lot of ribbon weed floating around on top of the water. Beautiful day on the water but 5 hours for 3 fish is somewhat displeasing. Might try Port Hacking next weekend ( the Bays been quiet for a while now) - Can anyone tell me if Grays point ramp is open , and what action is happening down there with the fish regards Bill

  4. Hi Guys Hit the water at 5:30am on Sunday and headed out to the runways. Weather fantastic - great to be out on the water at this time of day. Lots of other boats also had the same idea. Unfortunately the fish were not co-operating. Tried all the spots :- , off the runway , Henry Head , drift off Brighton , Towra , the flats at Catain Cook Bridge and finally a drift between the 2 bridges. Ended up with one nice whiting , a good size flounder , and a blue swimmer crab that wouldn't let go of a bait. What was surprising was that even the small bream & snapper weren't around, a couple of small flathead that were returned to the water finished the day. Talking to other boats it appeared to be a quiet day for most. We had used blood worms , prawns , small squid and pilchards , plus plenty of berley but for little response. Saw the aftermath of the accident at Catain Cook bridge on Saturday night with 2 Police boats and divers working to recover wreckage about 11am Sunday morning. Evidently excessive speed was a contributing factor to the accident (not surprising) but I was surprised at the number of boats who were oblivious to the Police boats with flashing lights and Diver Flags and just went blindly charging past. People need to be more aware of what is happening around them - It was difficult enough for the divers without excessive wash causing problems. Anyway it was very pleasant on the water - beats working - and there is always next weekend. regards Bill
  5. Hi Guys . Went out on Botany bay at dawn on Saturday 29/9 up to the runways and got blown away by the wind at 6:30 - ended up hiding from the wind between the bridges and managed to catch a few whiting on blood worms. Great to be out on the water but very quiet with fish. On Monday 1/10 , back out on the water at 05:30 and headed from St George Motor Boat Club up to the 3rd runway. Great weather, but no bream. After about an hour drifted off the Novotel at Brighton for a feed of whiting on bloodworms and peeled prawns. Also picked up a couple of smallish flathead on peeled prawns. Finally anchored off Towra and managed 2 nice bream near the tide change. Wind came up about 10:30 so we scurried back to calmer water at Captain Cook bridge for another drift , but no more fish . Both days out on the water better than working but looking forward to a few more fish being around. Regards Bill.
