Got the weekend off work, so wanna put the boat in on sat.. although I think the
has plans for me to take her and kids on the boat for a picnic at lobster beach. Oh well I will still wet a line -
I was there Wed, Thurs and Friday.. not many bream for me though
It was absolutly pumping out under the bridge, and fish were not biting.

Small hooks and bread. Thats my method anyway, others may have more "techo" ways of doing it.

Got back from our Harrington trip on Friday night, and I must say was a little dissapointing
Wednesday:
Arrived in Harrington at about 3:30pm after a shocking drive from the Central Coast.. it pissed down all the way to Taree.
Unloaded our gear into the cabin, and set off to explore the breakwall for tomorrow mornings session. Was a little windy, but found some likely spots so headed back for a few
and a quiet night.Thursday:
Up early and headed out along the breakwall, the water was crystal clear and you could see hundreds of fish on both sides of the wall.. in the estuary side, whiting, blackfish and mullet were in plague proportions, and on the ocean side too many species to name were hunting the rocky edges.
After some advice from the local tackle shop, we let loose with some whitebait and mullet strips, and saw myself onto 2 decent bream, and then the tide changed and my god that current running out gets strong. I have to say I went thorugh ALOT of gear as the snags over that side of the wall are infuriating. My mates had no luck (except with snags
), and things went quiet for me as well. So we headed further up the wall to flick some plastics over the estuary side, with no hookups.Back for lunch and a few Aussie Day
and then headed down for another at the pub. After that we walked over to the wall again and the current was charging again, so we decided to head back to the cabin for some more time and try for the high tide first thing in the morning. On the way back to the cabin, we spyed a boat ramp with some oyster racks or something within casting distance, but by this time the wind was howling so only a few quick flicks with some gulps with no hookups.Friday:
Early start on the wall but the tide was still racing in, so flicked the estuary side again for 4 small tailor and little else. Back to the ocean side, and another legal bream, but he jumped hook, and landed DEEP in the rocks, and I couldn't retrieve him
. So other than multiple snags and heart stopping bumps on the bait, the fishing was very quiet.After that we decided we had had enough so headed back to pack and go home.
Next time I will take a boat, as the river system up there looks very promising. Also may take my black fish rigs, and you could have fed an army on the amount that where thier.

Yep little bottles of lens spray (see hint below), and a soft glasses hanky/cloth. Also you can get some water resistant crayon like sticks (like you use on snow goggles to stop fog) these are not to bad to resist things like suntan cream.
Hint: Save money by making your own lens cleaner, if you have "good" quality sunnies with polarised lens etc, then straight metho in a little spray bottle is all you need. If the sunnies are at the cheaper end of the scale put a drop of dishwashing detergent in the bottle with the metho.

My missus is an optical dispenser, and she recommends a proper lens cleaner, or if your out and about, water on a tissue.. dry tissues scratch lens, but wet ones don't.

Hey all,
I am heading up to Harrington with a few mates next week for a few days of
and and was hoping to get some advice for fishing in the Harrington area.We will be land based mostly, but we may hire a boat up there for some river fishing.
Any tips, spots for that area is much appreciated.

So does anyone know of any good mudcrab spots in the brissy waters?

For me its an eqilibriam thing.. I usually take travel calm, and if that dont help, 1 or 2 stubbies usually get my legs going with the boat not against it. Although I prefer not to drink until the ride back in.. sometimes 1 or 2 helps.

Bisso, I been fishen brissy waters all my life, and I too think the fish are picking up on previous years.
All the advice already given is top notch, and you wont go wrong listening to these guys.
If your after advice on fishing the brissy, with soft plastics and lures, Tyronne on these forums has a fair bit of experience, and is always helpful with advice.
Other than that, there are many new spots I have been hearing about, like a decent hole at mossie bay, and some bream fireing again off the racks at Kincumber. All depends on what kind of boat setup you have, as to whether you can get into the racks or not.

Hey guys, been awhile for me.. have been very busy with work, and unfortunatly no fishen
BUT, now the whacky season is upon us, I am keen the get back into it, and a good goon session sounds like a top idea.
Put me down as shore based ty... or I may scrounge up my surf ski, for an Avoca Lake session.
Oh and for those that asked, Avoca Lake is ALOT bigger than it looks, and heres a pic.

Taken a few mates out in the boat on the brissy waters on Sat... will fish, but with 4 on board will be crowded, so a few beers will prob be involved too
Sunday is me mums for breaky and then the pub for the fish comp weigh in.

Headed out this arvo for a quick flick at my usual haunt.
Was a pretty slow session to start, was usuing bait.. with baby snapper and bream chewing away at it.
Once the tide started to flow back in, it was a good run, pulled in about 7 30+cm leather jackets, and this 40cm lizard. All released.
Unfortunatly no decent bream today, but was still fun, with one leather jacket putting up one hell of a fight.
Tailor made my attempts at sp's bloody annoying... lost about 8 plastics in 1/2 an hour. So went back to bait.
Sun was just going down, and I thought of that Where to drink beer post, as I sat there looking over the glassy water, wetting a line, with a cold VB in my hand.... Magic.

While I am neither a poly or alum owner, I have been researching these same boats for over a year. I have been in the market for a boat for that long, and am still undecided on which to buy. Luckily for me, both my brothers have boats I borrow.
Anyway, Pro's & Cons from my research.
Aluminium:
Pro's -
Been around forever, and can take the knocks.
Lighter to single handle
Huge range to choose from.
More options for addons (under floor storage/tanks etc)
Cons -
That nice tinny slap in swell/chop
Motor size small for smaller models
Scratches hard to fix (if you care)
Not soft on legs (in swell)
Price can be steep for some models (quintrex etc)
Poly:
Pro's -
Great ride
Soft on legs (in swell)
Larger motor size per boat size
Coloured boat is free
Price
Con's -
Much heavier that Alum
Underfloor Addons not available
Some addons need alot of work (becuase of poly thickness etc)
Not a huge range to choose from
Now this is just a few pro's cons that I have thought of, do a little more research yourself and see what you come up with.
Me, I am on the verge of buying an alum as I have 3 kids and we need room and cover for weekends on the brissy and hawkesbury. Of course I may yet chang my mind, as I am still pretty unsure which to go.
