  1. Living on the river I have found the same as you.Full moon is never as good as a overcast showery day for the Jews.Good news though the prawning boats have finally started working ,which means prawns are starting to appear  ,hence the flatties should be moving up the river. :1fishing1: I will be trying for jew around wisemans & laughtondale in the next week so will hopefully be able to post a good fishing session soon.Re:the classic it has been a shocker :ranting2: the last couple years lets hope the weather is better this year and a better range of fish species is weighted in!

    Regards Jeff

  2. This happened on my trailcraft around the bung :( .I suspect It was from the drilling to fit the bung.Like a lot of manufactures their work leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to the finishing off jobs! :1badmood: They give these mundane jobs to apprentises :1prop: who couldn't give a dam because its not their boat.

    Regards Jeff.

  3. took my 4 yr old son down to berowra for his first fish in a boat today (sunday 5th october) to see if he followed in his fathers footsteps and while i was still rigging up he allready had a nice flatty on about 45cm, the excitement on his face said a thousand words. After that we both got a few small soapys and then i got i nice flathead about 48cm. things started to get a bit quiet so i moved to the other side of the river (a secret family spot) and put on some large strips of fresh squid. within ten minutes i got a 5lb jewy on my light rod and within another ten minutes a hooked up on a 8lb jew. after about another 20 minutes i hooked up on something big on my heavy gear. this thing ran like a freight train for about 150mtrs then i turn him, for about 45minutes i played him, i even had boats stop to spectate. i finally got him close to the boat and my son got the gaff ready. he came up from the deep then i saw a large flash of a huge jewy tail and then he ran again did some big head shakes and then he was gone. he had to be at least 50 - 60 lb for what i saw and felt (disapointment +++). when i pulled in my line the hook 8.0 had almost been straightened (big fish). After re rigging i threw out another big bait hoping to get his brother and within another 10 minutes "bang" off the drag went. i fought this fish for about 15minutes and then got him in (14lb jew), Nice fish but nothing like the one before. overall the weather, fishing and company was perfect and went home with about 25lb of fish so i cant complain

ill have to get the big one next week :)post-5094-1223219658_thumb.jpg

  5. hey raiders just saw the news and they reported 54 water police and maritine boats were out checking everyone safety gear in a blitts over the long weekend

i think that must be over the hole off nsw and i still think that's a bit far fetched

but if your like me and plan to hit the water early tomorrow i think you could assume you will be checked

just a heads up cherrs gary

The more out there the merrier I say. Catch the half wits that put our life & there own at risk and we will all have a better day.

    Regards Jeff

  7. Hands up how many of you guys out there on the forums are curious about soft plastics fishing but don't know where... or how to get started.

That may even go for some of you who have dabbled but not quite had the success you had hoped for due to lack of knowledge/skills or not knowing how to use ther fishing gear you have.

Reason for these questions.... I was hoping to guage the level of member interest in putting together a complete series of informative tutorials and if necessary, some get-togethers to help get as many people as possible started and help those out who want to improve what they already know.

This is not going to be aimed at turning anybody into a pro level soft plastics tournament hero, just give people a good level of competency and understanding so that any outing with soft plastics can be a fun and successful one with no stories of broken leader knots and stories of how the use of wrong technique or gear cost a good fish.

    Look forward to your replies.

  8. Theres a good little ramp next to the bridge to no where at Lower Portland, which is about halfway between Sackville And Wisemans Ferry. There is good fishing all the way down river to Spencer :1fishing1: .Most commonly caught are Bass,Bream,Flathead and Jewfish.Although now the prawn trawlers have started the jewfish disappear :1badmood: until you get down around Wisemans Ferry. Hope this helps, have a good time in my backyard! Regards Jeff.

P.S. The name of my boat is Day's Fishin, a 5.8 meter Trailcraft, If you see it give me a hoy and well have a chat. :1welcomeani:
