Hi Raiders,
I am in SW Sydney lockdown like many of you are. This gives one too much time to think about spending money. I have a 499 Stacer Sea Ranger. I’m thinking of a bow mounted trolling motor for when we are allowed to get out again. I’m not overly keen on getting a plate welded on. Concerned about it not being done right. I’ve had very little luck with tradies and quality work. Looking at my bow I had an idea. The anchor well is a plastic tub. If I remove the tub and have a slide in unit made that sits on the keel and bolts to the top deck I could have a mounting pad on that unit. I think there is enough room under the anchor well and behind the deck storage for battery(s). Has anyone done something similar? Is this a hair brain idea?

Nice fish mate, cracking good story about the anchor line too.

A bad day for you Yowie looks pretty good to me. I’m stuck in lockdown too, so no fishing anytime soon. I didn’t get to wet my boat last year due to work demands but now have a better work schedule, well when I’m back that is. Until then I’m just at home until the restrictions lift.
Hi Fab! All all is good with you

I can make plugs corrode on things like sounder wiring (having the power on), also stray current could cause electrolysis in aluminium boats.
I guess this was my biggest concern. My switch kills everything from the positive side of the batteries so I assume this is the same as disconnecting.

Glad you are enjoying your sounder. I got the blue charts upgrade and my 75sv works for me.

Hey Fab. Have you thought about mounting a GoPro or something on your trailer looking at the area and driving around so that you get some video and sound of your coupling. Video is worth a thousand guesses

"Just had to wet a line" - think I heard that somewhere recently
Hooked another fish, then a dumb arsed seagull flew into the line and tangled up. By the time I landed it, the fish had broken the line and taken the lure. Not much meat on a seagull once you grab it around the neck to remove the line.
A bit of excitement for a change, though a lot of casting for what was landed. Used 12 pound mono, 15 gram metal, a whippy rod.
I'd suggest 16lb mono and fast action for seagulls mate 😎

Another huge can of worms. What gear to tow with
I do not tow in Overdrive. Any gear of 1:1 or higher is very hard on your gearbox. That limits me to 80k/hr so that my tow vehicle isn't revving it's head off.

I'm glad you got a hold of someone. I'm still waiting :)

I did, so hopefully I get the reply. I would have to think the link Paddy has put up is the most current and correct. That said DPI did not instill confidence when they were unsure themselves.

Ok lovely lady from DPI is looking for us and will send me an email when she clarifies it with others. She is going to check the legislation as well. She was not sure as she could see the closure but did not see it listed on the current website. I did comment that a simple guide would be much appreciated lol

Berowra is fine for crap traps and witches hats 7 days a week- go for it
Paddy,
I'm confused as I'm reading
Berowra Creek (Figure 3). The whole of the waters of Berowra Creek (also known as Berowra Waters), its creeks, tributaries and inlets, upstream (south) of a line drawn from the most north-eastern extremity of the southern entry of Marra Marra Creek, to the most south-western extremity of Morgans Point are closed to any method involving the use of a hoop or lift net. Applies from 6 pm Friday to 6 pm Sunday in each week, or from 6 pm Friday to 6 pm Monday where Monday is a Public Holiday.

Which way did you end up going?
I have thought about going up to a 130hp after driving the exact same boat as mine with the 130hp Etec, I liked the speed and power increase, since I am always loaded with 5 or 6 adults.
Jeff I sold the HH and bought new. I got the green light from the Mrs and was happy with that. I have a new 499 Sea Ranger from Stacer.

Fisheries really need to make this stuff easier to understand. Too many rules in too many different places for the same waters. How are fishos supposed to stay compliant?
