    Ok thank's for the help guys,after talking to 2 other mechs it seems a bit of grease on the threads is the go.

    Hi guys I'm re-installing the water pump housing on my 03' f50 yamaha. the maintanace manual says to apply loctite572 on the 4 bolts but my local mechanic (who I don't have the utmost confidence in) said just smear them with a dab of marine grease. Which way should I go?

    Hi Raiders,does anyone know if there are any preferred/reliable areas in the upper Cowan ( between cottage point & apple tree bay) to fish for yellowtail?

    or can they be found anywhere there with a bit or burley?

    Any advice appreciated :)

    Do a search for one of mariner31 posts and then look it up on snopes as the company has put out several press releases on the myths of wd40

    It's also good for killing wasps/hornets in their nests, but make sure you use a newish can with plenty of propellant & not some old rusty thing you found in the back of the shed you didn't bother to test beforehand.

    40. Use it for fire ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately and stops the itch.

    Damn...wished I'd known that.

    i totally agree with you Billy, Ron Calcutts "A Fishermans World" series is awsome!!

    I remember as a kid seeing it on the ABC,only managed to see one episode "from the river to the sea" but was enough to get me hooked. :)

    Wouldn't mind seeing it again though, will have to keep an eye out for the dvds.

    Don't think there was much going before early 80s', wasn't much of a market before VCRs became popular.

    Hi guys

    I have a 1978/70hp evinrude fitted with internal tilt/trim system that's stuck in the down position.

    All I'm getting when i press the "up" switch is a loud clicking at the soleniod.

    I can't access the tilt motor or connections unless it's raised so is there anyway to raise it manually?

    If i loosen the fluid plug will that work?

    Is there a manual release anywhere?

    EDIT:

    ok, turns out there is...Manual release/bleeder screw on the right hand side.

    Hi pete, the pickup I'm referring to comes with a mounting plate that sits flush against the transform and is attached with self tappers.

    If you decide to go this way make sure you use the appropriate drill bit size for the screws so they fit nice and snug and don't leak.

    Also, coat the screws and back of the plate with a coating compound [duralac or similar] to help keep metals separated, I used silastic marine which is a lot cheaper and did the job.

    EDIT:just saw dogtooth's post...that pickup would do the same job at a fraction of the price! I'd go with that.

    I couldnt figure out how to use a hose without getting something welded to the boat to connect it????

    any ideas on how would be appreciated that way i could shorten the pipe!

    Do you think araldite would work on a small aluminium tube 1inch long glued to the bottom of the boat ? the hose could be pushed on to that when in use.

    Hi pete..I wouldn't trust a glue for that job,there will be a lot of pressure put on that tube once your underway and sooner or later it'll give.I recon the best option is to mount a bait tank pic up with 1/2 inch through tube and attach suitable size hose to that...cut the pipe couple of inches below the lowest anchor point and join other end of hose there.

    That's a clever setup you've made pete but because that copper pipe isn't anchored down low it may bend under pressure or perhaps cause a rocking effect on the container,combine that with the level you've set the overflow and your livebait could be in for a rough ride.

    But i'm being way too pessimistic [comes from prev failed attempts] ...they're just maybes' and there's no doubt that if there's any probs with your new setup you'll soon be on top of it. :)

    edit:..just read Pels reply,that's some good advice..i'd go with that!

    I got a small mention in the tele on page 14 today - just thought i would share. It was in regard to my last fishing report - pity fishraider wasnt mentioned considering thats where the info came from!

    I remember in an old fishing book some guy had photo's of homemade lures made from old teaspoons...said they worked pretty well.

    Good choice too,no matter how the economy fairs in the future there will always be work for you.

    Should be plenty of opportunity to improve your skills/qualifications as well, My sister started out with similar [or same] job as yours a few years ago and now does home nursing.
