  1. Gday gents.

Moved to Brisbane not too long ago - the dust has finally settled. Summer is coming ... and I'm looking for people to fish with.

I used to own a boat in Sydney before coming up and know my way around them. Still licensed.

Can help with fuel, cleanup etc... after trips.

Anyone need company on the water? Weekends work best for me. Early starts are good. I don't get seasick /(if you like venturing out)

  2. Haha we will pop some sea sick tablets before we head out. Or a bourbon or two ;) lol

Are you gents still up this way? I also moved from Sydney. Plenty of time on a boat - still have my boat licence. Having someone to hire a boat with would be awesome!

  3. Hi Raiders,

Figured there must be a few of us on here who work in Financial Services, which should mean that there'd be at least a handful of fisho's with a day off next Monday - 6th August.

I live up on the north shore, travel not a problem, and hoping to get out and catch some fish anywhere between Sunday night, to Monday late afternoon.

    Anyone out there with plans?

I've got beach gear, Boat gear, can fish from the stones, or anywhere landbased...

    Cheers!

    AJ

  4. Hey all,

I've got myself a 19' fibreglass boat, and needing to understand what size (thickness), length of anchor rope is enough? 50m or 100m?

And also the thichness? 10mm? 12mm?

I saw the post about the 10mm/8mm discusison, but that's for a 4.5m significantly lighter rig...

And lastly anchor weight? any rough guidelines on size of anchor? Looking at a sand/mud anchor mostly for using in around botany bay... and closed water use...

if I ever venture offshore, not planning in anchoring up in 100m or anything like that, and would probably use a sea anchor instead if current is pulling too much.

    thoughts?

  5. Sounds like you definitely need to get yourself some longer casting lures/minnows... I've got an old mag with some examples...

Try some halco roosters, and cotton cordell poppers for splashing through the wash.. they cast a mile (with the right gear) and always seem to raise some fish...

I've also used some Rapala's - Long Cast Minnows around 5/6 inch range, also have a pencil type lure same size which hasn't had much use, but has great action on the surface..

I've got an old mag with some more examples... I'll see if I can dig it up... and post up a few more names..

Larger blades, would work ok, but you'll probably lose alot of expensive gear that way...

    Same as jigs or metals...

Taes time to figure out your spot and knwo how long you can let something sink for before getting snagged.. can be an aexpensive lesson, which Is why i prefer surface lures...
