  1. Gday gents. Moved to Brisbane not too long ago - the dust has finally settled. Summer is coming ... and I'm looking for people to fish with. I used to own a boat in Sydney before coming up and know my way around them. Still licensed. Can help with fuel, cleanup etc... after trips. Anyone need company on the water? Weekends work best for me. Early starts are good. I don't get seasick /(if you like venturing out)
  2. Are you gents still up this way? I also moved from Sydney. Plenty of time on a boat - still have my boat licence. Having someone to hire a boat with would be awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hi Raiders, couple of days up my sleeve and wondering if anyone is taking a boat out and could do with some company on the days mentioned? Boat license, have all my own gear, chip in for costs etc. have the car so can drive just about anywhere. Don't hesitate to get in touch.

  7. Hi Raiders, Figured there must be a few of us on here who work in Financial Services, which should mean that there'd be at least a handful of fisho's with a day off next Monday - 6th August. I live up on the north shore, travel not a problem, and hoping to get out and catch some fish anywhere between Sunday night, to Monday late afternoon. Anyone out there with plans? I've got beach gear, Boat gear, can fish from the stones, or anywhere landbased... Cheers! AJ

  11. Good size bonnie for LB mate.. well done! As for eating them.. bled, and on ice straight away, then straight in the smoker when you get home.. you won;t find a tastier smoked fish!
  12. Hi Guys, Just curious as to where the 'needles' are? Heading down that way on saturday to take the boat on it's maiden voyage.. more of a test run than a fish, but keen to poke around and sound out some of the sports around there... Cheers, AJ
  13. Catching up on my reading Thanks guys! Actually downed a few guiness down at the irish pub.. while stuffing my face with a Steak Guinees Pie... weather was perfect for it!!!
  14. If Ride's important (and heading out to browns and beyond.. it is!) I wouldn;t be looking at anything that isn't fibreglass... Questions i've got.. What's you're towing capacity look like? and what's your budget?
  15. Hey all, I've got myself a 19' fibreglass boat, and needing to understand what size (thickness), length of anchor rope is enough? 50m or 100m? And also the thichness? 10mm? 12mm? I saw the post about the 10mm/8mm discusison, but that's for a 4.5m significantly lighter rig... And lastly anchor weight? any rough guidelines on size of anchor? Looking at a sand/mud anchor mostly for using in around botany bay... and closed water use... if I ever venture offshore, not planning in anchoring up in 100m or anything like that, and would probably use a sea anchor instead if current is pulling too much. thoughts? AJ
  16. Great work Pete... What'd you get the Jew on? Squid? AJ
  17. Top effort Stan! Nothng beats marking your own spots, and its even better when they produce! AJ
  18. Don't know that the powers that be can do much... Don't think that lifejackets being compulsory are the answer either... A bit like drink driving really... You can't stop the idiots from getting behind the wheel...
  19. Bloody unreal.. that's just pure insanity!!! Well done mate! AJ
  20. Nice work Gary! well done... bringing him in sideways is a feat no matter how you look at it! AJ
  21. Sounds like you definitely need to get yourself some longer casting lures/minnows... I've got an old mag with some examples... Try some halco roosters, and cotton cordell poppers for splashing through the wash.. they cast a mile (with the right gear) and always seem to raise some fish... I've also used some Rapala's - Long Cast Minnows around 5/6 inch range, also have a pencil type lure same size which hasn't had much use, but has great action on the surface.. I've got an old mag with some more examples... I'll see if I can dig it up... and post up a few more names.. Larger blades, would work ok, but you'll probably lose alot of expensive gear that way... Same as jigs or metals... Taes time to figure out your spot and knwo how long you can let something sink for before getting snagged.. can be an aexpensive lesson, which Is why i prefer surface lures...
  22. Maaan!!! the fish in the first pic is a monster! Sounds like a great trip gents. Well done! AJ
