  1. Well I put my point to him, he eventually accepted that it was a problem and we agreed on a price that covers the cost of buying replacement top rails from CruiseCraft. I have now have another problem to fix but atleast I won't be too much out of pocket. And credit to him for taking it onboard and being professional when I picked the boat up, he showed me around his work like nothing had been said. He has done a nice job on the covers too it really improves the look of the boat. Anyway, thanks to everyone who offered their opinions, it was very helpful. Cheers, Paul
  2. Thank you John and Gary for your quick replies. I appreciate the unbiased opinions, it good to get perspective on things like this, so I know that I am not being unreasonable. The guy has been in this business a long time and was recommended to me by a Dealer which just added to my suprise with this. It looks like I will be having a very awkward day tomorrow. I hate being in a position that I have to say anything other than thanks for doing a great job and heres the money we agreed on. I know I should be fired up about it and may well be if he tells me to stick it tomorrow, but at the moment I just feel sad that I have to go through it with him. Other than a 5 minute water test I haven't even had the boat in the water yet. Cheers Paul
  3. I am having a new bimini canopy made at the moment on a second hand boat. Today when I went to have a look at its progress I found that the original press studs on the windscreen had not been replaced, rather they had been snipped off with cutters of some sort, and new ones installed beside the old hole. The remaing portion of the old pot rivets remain in place and stick out slightly beyond the alluminium frame and are quite sharp. This looks terrible as the old press studs have been there for quite some time and the windscreen frame had begun to corrode underneath. The only way to hide it would have been to put the new press studs in exactly the same location which is what he said would do. He tells me he did this cause the rivets used were stainless steel and he couldn't get them out with his drill. But I didn't get a phone call to ask if he could do what he's done and to my eye he's ruined the top part of the frame of my windscreen, two panels of which are curved. Any ideas what I should do ? What do you guys think of this in general ? I am worried because if I am able to match the shape of the alluminum U channel (which I seriously doubt) I expect it will be quite expensive and this guy will be expecting to be paid tomorrow.
  4. Hi Guys, I have finally bought myself a CruiseCraft Galaxy but it needs a few things doing to it. It needs new carpet and a new bimini, from the prices have gotten to date I will probably have to do the recarpetting myself as it has the stuff everywhere. Can anyone here recommend a place to buy carpet or get canopies done that is good or reasonably priced or preferably both (I know you only get what you pay for) in the Sydney area. I am in western Sydney but anywhere in the greater Sydney area would be fine. Cheers
  5. Still looking for the right one...................................
  6. Hi Dave, Yes I am still looking to buy a Galaxy, could you email me a few pics, some information, the area the boat is in and the asking price please ? (pics can come later if you don't have any at hand) My email is pprestidge@hotmail.com I have also pm'd you my phone number. Cheers
  7. Thanks for sharing your experience, I will be doing the same and slowing down if the conditions dictate, I did the same in the previous boat a 2250L Signature, which is almost 7m cuddy cab, so I really don't think there'll be much difference in the way I drive it. I hope the Galaxy is comprable to the Resort 600 even though its a little smaller. Cheers Good point there, it certainly would be. I am aware of that one, thanks though. Cheers
  8. haha, has your mrs used it ? I'm sure mine would decline. Have you ever had anything other than a bit of wind blown spray over the bow ? By the way, I am still looking..................
  9. Some people earn a hell of a lot more than you or I ! Good on em too, if I could I would too. Cheers
  10. Hi CB88, Sounds awesome, I would love to get one with an etec on the back but I realise thats not going to happen so........ I have often heard the 'wave over the front' thing quoted, does this really happen that often ?, I have been in a good few boats in my time, I only ever recall it happening in a speed boat height bow rider (was only a modest sized wake that came over too - joke of a boat) I would always slow down to suit the conditions though, so maybe thats why. I keep thinking they would be no worse off than a centre console for this anyway and those guys take them out there. It's the allround family boat thing I am looking for, something that can pretty much to do a mix of everything (except sleep out obviously), hope you don't mind me asking but do you have any sort of toilet facility onboard for the Mrs ? Cheers
  11. I have an old Haines Hunter brochere (about 1995) unfortunately it does not include the 445R, however it has a 460SR which I would imagine would be similar, which has an "approximate weight" of 400kg. they do not elborate what an "approximate weight" is, the safe assumption would be hull weight only. Cheers
  12. I would also be interested in opinions about the galaxy, if anyone on here has had any experience with them. Cheers
  13. Does anyone have or know of someone considering selling a Cruise Craft Galaxy bow rider. I am in Sydney so NSW would be preferable but I would travel for the right boat. Cheers
  14. I have used these guys a few times which included a new boat rego number and a boat name in cut vinal (which they also fitted to the boat for me). As a plus they are also really nice (Husband and Wife business), I should mention that it was a good few years ago though. I should also mention that I am in no way affiliated with them, just had a good experience using them. They are: Vellere Signs 25 Pretoria Pde Hornsby NSW ph: (02) 9476 2416 Mods - I hope it was ok to post their details
