  1. As I didn't really catch anything on note I didn't take any photos. I do have a photo taken by my darling wife of my mate and I pulling my 5m Black Centre Console up Currarong Creek as we slightly misjudged the tide but I am not planning to share that rather embarrising moment with anyone.
  2. Just arrived back from a week in Currarong on the South Coast and despite some very poor weather for most of the trip we managed to take the boat out 3 times. Thanks to the members who gave me some tips on the ramps and spots to fish, which were extremely helpful. We managed to catch about 10 Flatties (kept 4 between 45 and 50cms) 3km straight out from the township on our first session and then scored a nice King (66cm) while trolling off Beecroft Head. The second session the weather was nasty so we stayed closer to the township and lost count of how many flatties we caught. We kept 11 all around the 50cm mark and scored a nice Pinkie of about 45cm. The 3rd session saw a big Southeast wind and we were fishing only a few hundred metres out and still scored plenty of flatties. Kept 7 as well as 2 snapper around the 45 cm mark. All fish were caught on slimies, which were everywhere, and very easily caught on a standard flasher rig. We only fished for about 2 hours each session so the fishing was very good. Cheers, Black CC
  3. I am heading down to Currarong next week and have rented a house on Currarong Creek. Does anyone know if I will be able to launch my 5m boat in the creek and head out to sea through the mouth. I have never been there before but can see there is a boat ramp in the creek. Any tips on spots for Kings around Currarond would also be very much appreciated. Happy to share my rather extensive knowledge of fishing in Western Australia if anyone is heading West.
  4. I would suggest you look at 2nd hand boats before buying one that doesn't quite match your needs. There are a lot of people who have bought Kayaks and only use them a few times and then sell them again for half their purchase price. I bought one of my Kayaks second hand for half the retail price and there was hardly a mark on it.
  5. I caught a 70kg GT while bottom fishing 20kms West of the Montebello Islands in Western Australia a few years back. Took me an hour an a half to catch. I have a couple of amazing photos but will need to research how to show them on the site. We weighed it and let it go and I couldn't believe how quickly it swam back down as I needed about 2 hours to recover.
  6. Bassfisho, I have been a regular kayak fisherman for many years and tried lots of different strategies. I think it comes down to how you intend to transport it, where you intent to use it and what fish you intent to target. I currently have 2 fishing kayaks. I have a heavy duty one capable of handling the ocean. I transport this using wheels and roll it down the road to the water. It's a bit heavy to put on the roof of the car all the time. I have a much lighter kayak for calmer water which I transport on top of the car. I have 2 rod holders in the heavy duty kayak and target kings, salmon and tailor - mostly trolling. I use the lighter kayak (carbon fibre and only 12kg) for casting in the snags and upper reaches of rivers and creeks. Lighter is usually more expensive. Hope this helps. Cheers, Black CC
