Bullethead here. Went to Forster in the school holidays with my lot and 6 other families. Stayed in a cheap place in the centre of Forster and had a ball. I had my new boat (see pic), curtesy of Huey, and 2 other boats went. I decided to go fishing outside for the first time with the blokes and try not to get sea sick. On my previous last 2 attempts at outside fishing I berleyed up big time. This time the boys had the Kwells ready and swore by them.We headed out one morning, got out past the bar, only to turn back seeing as we forgot the bait. At our second attempt we headed 18 km out and Pete's GPS put us right on the spot. The Kwells were working fine and soon I was into some good Snapper. The other boat got 2 big fellas (see pic). All went quiet after a while so we headed back in. A couple of days later we went out again and it wasn't much good. I caught this decent flatty (see pic, a PB for me) and watched the whales go by. A really good holiday, everyone had fun, guys fishing, women shopping, kids tubing, i'll be back next year. Bullethead

Dear Raiders I am having a bit of difficulty getting my boat up the side of the house [slight incline not much room and car doesn't fit] just wondering about ratchet drives on jockey wheel,any good.I've heard one report that they tend to slip.Any advice? Thanks Bullethead

Dear Raiders Could someone please tell me if a boat is rated at carrying 5 people at 75kg per person,does that mean that I can carry 6 smaller people that add up to the total weight given that I have all the safety gear for 6 people.The problem is I am looking for a new boat eg 4.89 stacer Easyrider(huey told me about it)so we as a family can go boating(wife 2 girls 14&11)but when family goes boating we have to take 2 friends of the girls.Why can't they just enjoy the company of their mummy & daddy?Am I missing something? Thanks Raiders for all the info.Like I said I don't know much about motors but would like to know if a 75 e-tec or opti is sufficient for all my needs eg carrying me[103kg]wife[beautfully slim]2kids 11&14[normal]their 2 friends and all the necessary gear to spend a day on the water tubing skiing etc. Thanks Bullethead

Thanks Flightmanager, The other motor option was a 75 hp e-tec.A bit more expensive.I know little about motors,but I like to have max hp for the boat Bullethead

Dear Raiders I have just returned from the boat dealers and he has offered me a 2008 Quintex 490 Freedom Sports bowrider with a 90 hp 2 stroke carby Yamaha,bimini,bowcover,2 way,fishfinder, good seats, lights, etc. All for approx $34 000. I know it's not a good fishing boat but my wife and 2 daughters like to go water skiing, tubing, and laying around in the sun at Jibbon. What I want to know is, is this a reasonable price to start and what are yamaha motors like? Thanks Bullet Head
