if your going to spend the money on a reel then u should also buy a top notch rod i have just bought a hots rod which is amazing slow taper and bends from tip to butt right from the start but the price range is very high the saragosa has a fully sealed drag and alot of the jigging boats in perth are using the because of there price and dependability i think a certate would be nice but a bit small if u r not familiar with jigging catalina would do the job nicely withh a matching rod. another key point is dont be tight when buying braid not worth the dissapointment

saragosa 18000 for the reel and tcurve deep jig 400 for the rod and 80lb braid u will be able to use this setup for jigging for fin etc aswell

they sure do fibbo and u can see them in the backround lol

mate if u are going to go with the catalina i would go and have a serious look at the monster mesh as they are a very soft rod depending on ur budget if it is high i would look at the hots range of rods

cant go wrong with the gulp 5 inch range for beginners very effective in the chicken range and kamil is spot on they will eat anything

mate if u are really worried about ur battery dying get a solar trickle charger not that expensive either

the emcast is the only one which u will get some distance i have the same rod and have a sustain on it with 30lb braid and i use it off the rocks and its a great rod but just remember u are using graphite off the rocks be gentle and try not to just drop it on the rocks

yeah im at byron and we copped it pretty bad but so far so good no fish kills reported as yet what is it like at east ballina the back way to byron i always see people fishing there at the bridge and where the water flows through the pipes aswell

mate if u are fishing for world records or in a comp IGFA requires u to have a piece of the hook in the skirt dsent have to be much just the eye of the hook so there for i would be putting at least 3 more beads in it and what xtosea said the further back the better as u will get alot better strike to fish rate
