We fished Port yesterday in my 15 ft Haines called Murriweeni ... Started straight off little island water 20.5 green but full of Pilchards.... Headed to Gibber for tide change plenty of boats but no real action picked up and ran to seal rocks after an hour.... Raised little marlin that did not eat just after lunch...... Jumped off another sub 20 kg marlin after 5 jumps a little later. Around 4pm we spotted a large marlin we thought was over 80kg Black free feeding before we could get the spin rod in the fish nailed the bait on a 6500 Bait runner and a new prototype Zues jig rod by infinitely rods. First jump revealed the fish was closer to 120kg... Fought it for 50mins dragging us 5miles north released the fish in great condition called it 120-140kg.... Awesome day Wish we caught up to Damo earlier in the run home.... The 43 obrien is a great boat to follow leaving a nice clean hole in the water to travel in.

We caught two stripes and saw a few other free jumpers due easy of broken bay on Friday. We spent the majority of the day wide searching for blues and caught both stripes on the shelf one in the morning and one in the arvo... Well worth a troll at the moment. Hi Damo, Saw you circling us while we fought our 70kg black Saturday after noon. Unfortunately it was deep the time you were there.Did you have any baits or lures out? The bite continued after you run in with us raising a double header around 6pm of Striped marlin releasing another around 70kg ...... Awesome fun fishing that shallow, great for the fuel bill. Hopefully the fish hang in close. Cheers Roddy

VHF 21 is not a general chat channel.... It's a repeater channel that is used by fishing clubs... It you want to chat by all means contact each other on 21 then move down to a simplex channel like 72 or 74 so you don't clog the repeater up..

Hey guys, Where is the sand pumping jetty? I am struggling to find a good bait spot in botany. 4 attempts now and only a handful of tiny yakkas.. I would kill for some live slimeys . Cheers Roddy
