  1. Agree with Iceman - I have same and brilliant.
  2. Thanks Powerfisher - some great advice.
  3. Fellow Fishers, Having a look at these reels and apart from some minor differences (ie. Sustain 1 more bearing and higher ratio although Biomaster has extra spool) cant decide which one. Can get Sustain FG for $290 and Biomaster FB for $230 so obvious difference in price - anyone used these as i would appreciate any feedback here. New Reel

Fellow Raiders, As we all come across with our fishing passion - in a bit of a dilemma which reel to buy out of Sustain FG 4000 or Biomaster FB 4000. To be used for soft plastic targetting of fish in general out of my boat - flathead, snapper, small kings etc. Both have simialr features and similar price with advantage of Biomaster coming with spare spool. On shimano website Biomaster ranks ahead of Sustain. Any suggestions or feedback from experience would be greatly appreciated. Sido

    Botany Bay

Thanks everyone for your feedback - really appreciate it. Tony - Quinne bowrider 5.6 metre, 115 merc optimax only 2 years old. Experience medium and looking for a feed and relax with 2 mates - 3 of us all together. Launching Oatley and motor into bay - most likely around foreshore for protection. Hope it helps but agree I would never risk mine or passengers life - all about relax and recreation!!! Cheers - Sido

    Botany Bay

Fellow Raiders, Planning to go out this weekend and hit botany bay however forecast winds are westerly between 15-20 knots. As a newbie to boating - is this fishable and is the go to find some protection - ie. Mollineaux Point, around the foreshore (Novotel, in the river? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sido
  8. Caught and released my PB flathead down at St Georges Basin few weeks ago - photo attached. Caught on soft plastic - riptide mullet - rootber colour. Great to the the old girl swim off. Sido
  9. Obey 1 - looks great but I cant do the same on my Freedom Sport 530 as I have the moulded plastic down the sides which are uneven and don't allow for such racks to be installed. Instead I have installed some vertical rod holders - 2 x 3 set in both back corners in the rear just before the rear seat which allows 6 rods to be in place between spots and travelling on the water or trailering boat. I have a further 5 vertical rod holders (I made up myself on back of a piece of wood) that sit at the bow along side one of the seats on the floor) again good for travelling and keeps rods out of way ready for use. If I want to use the bow to fish from I have another 3 vertical holders mounted on the little door between cockpit and the bow. None of these impede on the use of the bimini. I also have mega chopper bait board that can hold another 4 rods but more for when fishing. Might be confusing but very practical and keeps rods out of the way and vertically mounted. Cheers Sido

    Motor up or down

Good morning all, I hear constant conflicting stories regarding whether to have the motor tilted up or down when finished fishing. I have my boat inside the front yard protected under a custom made cover - between trips should I tilt the motor up or fully down - does it matter at all? I understand initially down to get all the water out but after that? Some people saying leaving it up puts pressure on the tilt mechanism. Thanks Sido
  11. Will, Callala Bay is perfect for what you are proposing - as long as the wind is not blowing too hard as it can get rough - in saying that there is always a headland or bay to shelter around. Lots of flathead and whiting in the shallows and your kayak is perfect for that. Also agree teh wharf is teh place to catch some fish and keep the family entertained. Mystery kill was a while ago and due to a toxic algae outbreak - fish are safe to eat. Enjoy. Sido
  12. Thank you everyone - some fantastic ideas and advice - will put them to the test and see what works on my boat.
  13. Hello All, This may be a silly question - I am interested in anyone's tips on how to clean fish on your boat without making a huge mess - scaling, gutting etc. By that I mean that the boat ramp i use does not have fish cleaning facilities and I would prefer to clean them before getting home - I understand it is illegal to fillet fish on your boat. Thanks heaps. Sido
  14. Steze I would suggest it was a low oil alarm rather than an overheat alarm - if it has stopped you have nailed if it continues get it checked out. Sido

    Night Fishing

Hi All on this miserable Saturday, I am planning on doing some night fishing in the boat in the Georges River and have a couple of questions: 1. Outside of the nav lights and anchor lights which I have what do you suggest as a light to have on deck (Bowrider Quintrex 5.6 metre) - can you buy battery operated led lights that can hang off the bimini? 2. When you get home how do you flush the motor so as to not wake up the neighbours or wait until next morning but is this too late - I have a Mercury Optimax 115? Thanks Sido
  17. Hi Jez, Quintrex make a great aluminium boat as does stacer and savage - you cant go wrong with one of these either as a runabout or bowrider style. I have a quintrex bowrider which gives me heaps of felxibility to fish 4 comfortably and take it offshore on a good day. Just make sure if you are buying second hand to get someone to check the boat and the motor over. Good luck in your hunting. Sido
  18. Thanks also from me Huey - I watched the youtube test - brilliant way not to get the trailer wet. Cheers - Sido
  19. Thanks Tuffy - I will check that. Cheers Sido
  20. Hi Huey, For your method to work - do you dunk the last roller in the water only or the whole trailer/rollers sit above the water line? Thanks Sido
  21. Thanks Insomniac - will try that. No not doing anythig different and has done it on different boat ramps.
  22. Hello Fello Fishraiders, Bought my new Quintrex bowrider a few months agao and very happy overall. Last few outings when I launch the boat - as soon as I release the winch strap the boat starts to slide off - never did it the first dozen times - so I have to wind the winch handle backwards and let the boat slide into the water slowly. Can anyone assist - I have not changed or done anything with the rollers etc and the boat sits well on them and teh blue skids. I asked the dealer and they said just put it in deeper when launching which should stop it but it never did it originally. Thanks Sido
  23. Guys, I did the same with my bowrider but used one of the those seat spigots which I screwed into the floor - table screws into this and is great for a picnic with the family. I have a bimini over the front so umbrella not required. Cheers, Sido
  24. What an interesting question - over the years I am sure thousands as everytime I venture near a tackle shop I always have to buy something!!! Most recently (November) purchased first ever boat new so $46K gone and now buying lots of little bits and pieces for it - however absolutely enjoying it. You cant take it with you and as on eof the other raiders said above - i will never be rich!!! Sido
